In the book A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens.The main character Ebenezer Scrooge is a mean,ignorant and lonely old man who hates Christmas, and thinks it is stupid and there is no point in celebrating it.Throughout the book Scrooge is visited by four spirits.The spirits are Jacob Marley his dead co-worker,the spirit of christmas past,the spirit of christmas present and the spirit of future christmas who change his outlook on Christmas,In the middle of the book Scrooge begins to transition into a kind and empathetic person person,because of these spirits who visit him.At the end of the book he is a happy and generous person.

His family has always wanted him to join them for a Christmas feast, but Mr. Scrooge has never wanted anything to do with Christmas. His greedy, cruel, and grumpy demeanor is replaced seemingly overnight, but he doesn’t just wake up and decide to be nice. It takes three Spirits to change his outlook on life - The Ghosts of Christmases Past, Present, and Future. The Ghost of Christmas Past makes Scrooge begin to regret his selfishness, and the Ghost of Christmas Present begins to teach him about others. This second Ghost helps to make him realize that money doesn't buy happiness. The Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come, however, teaches the most profound lesson of all: unless he changes, no one will care if Scrooge dies.
