Christianity: followers of Jesus or Messiah they have over 2.2 million followers in Europe and America. Christians have the Bible that they go based on the Old Testament and New Testament. They celebrate holidays such as Easter, Christmas, Saint’s Day, and Baptism. They also symbolize themselves with cross, dove, anchor, fish, alpa/omega. It is considered to be one of the largest religions in the world.
Christian’s beliefs center the Jesus of Nazareth a teacher and healer. We learn the primary source of information about Jesus’s life through the Gospels the first 4 books of the New Testament. Infant baptism is seen as a ceremony to induct the newborn into the community and having the commitment to raise him or her into a faithful Christian. However Easter is the most important holiday because it celebrates Christ’s resurrection from the dead. It is then preceded by Holy Week which includes Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, and Good Friday. The 40 days prior to Easter form the Lenten Season which is a time of fasting and repentance. Good Friday is the Friday before Easter Sunday. It is a solemn Holiday commemorating the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. I have personally been to the celebration for Easter Sunday and Good Friday at my church and I have learned about the story behind the Holiday. Christmas is another holiday Christians celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. However there is no indication as to the day. My children have all participation in the Christmas play at church and they love it. They learn the meaning of the story and why is it important.
