China-Canada relations are clearly improving, due the fact that the two-way trade between Canada and China has sharply increased about eight times in the last 10 years alone. This increase in trade has massively increased the improvement of visas and the amount of visitors which come to Canada from China, not to mention the $55 billion that is now gained. “If China had a runny nose, the world will have a cold,” said China’s Consul General in Toronto, Fang Li, referring to the sturdy foothold China has on the global economy. This is undoubtedly true, however China needs Canada’s co-operation in regards to clean technology, environmental technology, food processing and health fields. Fang Li continues to point out that there are “1.5 million Chinese Nationals” living and studying in Canada compared to the 4000 Canadian students that study in China. This has caused China’s government to put in place a policy “where it will pick up the tuition of the student.” The Western criticisms of China’s human rights are partly to blame for this; however, China-Canada relations have started to “progress China into a more democratic society” and change the country as a whole. The result is clear: Canada’s global connections toward China are beneficial to all Canadians.
Canada’s global connection to China is a topic that has brought forth many opportunities for both Chinese and Canadian citizens. The Canadian economy has greatly benefited from the increase in trade that China shares and the amount of newly immigrated students who come to Canada to study. Lastly, Canadians are now able to visit China with the confidence and support of the Chinese government proving this connection that Canada now has, to be important to all Canadians.

China’s policy to pick up the tuition fee of Canadian students allows Canadians the opportunity to experience their education in whatever way they want. It gives them a chance to participate in the global connection Canada has with China.
All in all, Canada’s relationship with Canada proves to be extremely useful and important to all Canadians. It greatly improves the Canadian economic market and prepares it for whatever might lie in the future, provides Canada with the immigrants essential to sustaining Canada’s economic growth and health care and gives Canadians a chance to more easily experience what our beloved trade partner has to offer. For these reasons, China-Canada relations are extremely important to both Canada and its citizens.

Over the last century, Canada’s stance on immigration has changed drastically, from the Chinese Immigration Act of 1923, to the changes made to Canada’s immigration policy after the Second World War , to the chain of events that have lead to Canada becoming the multicultural country that it is today.
First of all, Canada benefits from close ties to America because it helps us with our economy. Back in the late 1950’s and 1960’s the opening of American branch plants were introduced to Canadians. American companies would come to Canada and open large American companies to serve to Canadian consumers. New policies started to pass down in 1965 such as the Automotive Products Trade Agreement (APTA or Autopact). This policy allowed free movement of vehicles to pass between the Canadian and American border. This also allowed American Branch plants to operate in Canada without having to pay tariffs. Many push factors encouraged Chinese workers to leave China such as a mass of political instability(Introduction to China’s modern History, Homepage). Foreign control was happening at the time as well(YouTube video, foreign control) which caused Chinese peasants to start a rebellion called The Boxer Rebellion. There were many places in China being taken over by Europe England was taking over Hong Kong, The United States of America were taking over Shanghai and many other places were also being taken over as well. The Boxer Rebellion was a rebellion that consisted of Chinese peasants who did not want their land being taken over, eventually the rebellion ended up failing because the foreigners ended up executing anyone who was willing to fight them. However, this perseverance presented the citizenship status for the progeny and a chance to live in the great land of Canada. Canada and the United States of America have a very healthy relationship today and throughout history. These two countries are in a “happy marriage” meaning they both work together and have prominent economic ties. For many reasons, their relations are healthy, but there are 3 reasons that stand out. Canada and the USA have a healthy connection because they have been close trading partners, they have similar values, and they have alliances and treaties.
