Child abuse is defined as the physical, sexual or emotional maltreatment or neglect of a child or children. Nowadays, you hear about numerous child abuses every year and every year the statists grow larger. Tens of thousands of children each year are traumatized by physical, sexual, and emotional abusers or by caregivers who neglect them, making child abuse as common as it is shocking. Most people cannot imagine what would make adults use violence against a child, and the worse the behavior is, the more unimaginable it seems. People do not realize the different forms of abuse children may receive. This list includes physical, mental, emotional, neglect, and sexual abuse. The psychological result of each abused child is often the same: deep emotional scars and a feeling of worthlessness. Abuse tends to be transmitted from one generation to the next. Many parents that abuse their children were once victims of abuse themselves because they were unable to meet their parent’s needs. About 30% of children who get abused will continue this awful cycle. Children need to be disciplined, but never to the extent of leaving marks on the child. Things have changed drastically since the olden days where children got “The Paddle” when they needed discipline. According to Child Help, a report of child abuse is made every ten seconds. Child abuse has solutions that could cut the number of child abuse in America. Some of the solutions are to be a good role model, become a foster parent, and learn to recognize the signs of abuse. Teaching children the correct and good ways of life is the best key to make the future generations safe. This world is an unpredictable, frightening place. Abuse may be a slap in the face, an unpleasant comment, or not knowing if there will be dinner on the table, but the end result will leave the child feeling lonely and unsafe. Children need structure, clear boundaries, and the feeling that their parents care. Child abuse is no longer a family problem, it is a nationwide problem. Child abuse causes serious injuries, including physical and psychological, and even deaths. People need to open their eyes and realize this is a serious problem.
