All packages are sent to a daycare in a rough neighborhood in Bolivar, Colombia, where the owner provides food and activities. It’s been noted that recent studies specify that “more than half of all 3-5-year-old children in the United States attend child-care centers prior to kindergarten” and “Given these high usage rates, the quality of these early child-care experiences has become an important public policy issue” (Peisner-Feinberg 2001). It is believed that part of the issue is a result of parents not knowing what the primary purpose of daycare/child care facilities are and what high quality daycares consist of in considering a their child should attend.

An eight or nine year old boy with dirt in his face, wearing ripped jeans, shoes and a dirty shirt doing his best to stop one of a thousand cars in order for him to wash the windshields of a car for a miserable wage. This young man was struggling to carry a large container with soap and water and a small red rug which he held with his small, left hand. His facial expression revealed fear, doubt and resignation. The inside of me wanted to cry and at the same time, I wanted to take him with me and give him a warm cup of milk. He looked as if he had not eaten anything for days. As he approached our car the other drivers would curse him and tell him to disappear from this world. With a sad glimpse, he kept his journey towards our car. His big and dark brown eyes expressed pain, dismay, and despair. Heartbreaking stories similar to this one are most commonly occurring in the urban metropolis of Mexico and Latin America. These children suffer from the abandonment of their family and the economic issues of the country; moreover they are deprived to health care, exposed to violence, drugs, and HIV through sexual promiscuity. Street kids are not choosing to live in abandoned buildings, cardboard boxes, parks or on the street itself; they are forced to take on the challenges of life that no other human being experiences in many years. Therefore, street children should be helped due to the constant marginalization.
Society has long expressed its frustration in forms of visual protest, the most basic being deviant crimes and violent acts against others. This action is a way to draw attention of others as well as vent aggressions. This violence is often found in lower social groups as they feel the burden of financial problems and a lack of social mobility. It has become a growing epidemic in America; the growth of poverty stricken neighborhoods is now at an all time high. Since 1970 the population of high-poverty tracts (with poverty rates of 40 percent or more) has increased from 4.1 to 8.0 million (Ludwig 147). These growths have increased the size and number of struggling communities in urban areas. These areas have many problems that must be addressed involving youth related problems. The adolescents that grow in these areas do not receive the proper tools needed to achieve social mobility and so are left in a vicious circle of poverty. If adults around them aren’t going to stand up, kids can stand up for others and help others. Kids don’t realise how powerful they can be if they set their mind to it. People in the US have gone into battle with other countries to fight for kids they didn’t even know. People in the US have adopted different kids around the world so they didn’t have to be a “slave” no longer. Many, many years ago a lady that lived in China adopted 13 different kids around the world plus her own 4 children. The woman from China educated them and when they were old enough to get a job she asked if they really wanted to work for themselves and they said they wanted a family of their own and to help others like their mother helped them. This woman is hero.
For they are the victims of people who think the only way to deal with all the street kids is to eradicate them. They are called “death squads” self appointed vigialenties who will go around and kill children who live on the street. As if the kids didn't have enough to worry about they have to deal with them. There is an account in Brazil from March to August 1989 were they had 457 murdered street kids all because of “death squads”. That is about 2-3 kids per day killed for just living on the street. All for them living on the streets they are considered a nuisance. To them annoying like a stray dog, they shoot them like one. Once they shoot 50 kids who were sleeping, seven children and one adult died and many were injured.
