Over 700,000 children suffer from child abuse yearly. It is proven that parent’s that abuse their children may “have been victims of abuse themselves, and don’t know any other way to parent. Others may be struggling with mental health issues or a substance abuse problem.” (Smith, M., & Segal, J, 2016) Sometimes when children are noticed that they are being abused it is because their bruises are visible and either teachers or people of interest in the children noticed they are being abuse. People who may know the child well will also notice that there is something wrong with the child because a visible bruise is noticed, children often know how to cover up their parents abuse by saying a different story with each bruise they may develop. …show more content…

There times children that are abducted from their parents are exploited and that can lead to possible prostitution or sold to a couple that cannot have children. Although touching would be a way of sexual abuse there are also the types of sexual abuse that children can experience without touching like; “Showing pornography to a child, a person exposing their genitals to a child, asking children to interact sexually with one another, online enticement of a child for sexual purposes, photographing a child in sexual poses, exposing a child to adult sexual activity in person or using technology, watching a child undress or use the bathroom, often without the child’s knowledge” (Prevent child sexual abuse, …show more content…

Negligence can mean several things like; children having filthy clothes, “hygiene is consistently bad (unbathed, matted and unwashed hair, noticeable body odor), untreated illnesses and physical injuries, is frequently unsupervised or left alone or allowed to play in unsafe situations and environments, is frequently late or missing from school.” (Powley, K, 2013) When children are left alone for long periods of time, they will often go out and look for someone to care for them and end up in the wrong hands out in the world.
