Field of Practice Child welfare, social workers have the responsibility to ensure welfare and well being of children and their families. Many have the ideas and that family social workers only want to take away the children from the family, but their assumptions are false. Family social workers primary goal is to have the best interest for the child to be successful in a safe environment. And with the society so corrupt the need for family social workers is vital. Also child welfare workers are not always required to hold licensure, although this largely depends on the requirements of the hiring agency. Basically just like any job the higher the degree the better the opportunity it will be for one. The responsibilities of child welfare social worker are to protect children from situation of abuse, neglect and other forms of mistreatment. Child social workers focus on ensuring the social, physical, psychological and emotional well-being of their clients. The only difference its for the well-being for the children. A Child protective service provides protection for children who are at risk of or are experiencing physical, sexual, or emotional abuse, emotional or physical neglect. The focus is on the safety of the child and support for parents to strength families and promote safe nurturing home for children. This agency is often judged and has the reputation of taking kids from the families. But my opinion the rumors are false. They’re placing kids into a better situation where they are able to be successful. Child protective services: screen and investigates reports of abuse, neglect, or harm. It provides families with referrals to community resources. Provides supportive services to children and families in their homes. Provides out of home placement and permanency planning when necessary. Finally, provides services to help foster care youth transition to adulthood. I love everything that CPS provides I believe it is fair for the children. When I was in high school CPS was called on my father because he was physically and emotionally abusing me. He did not go to jail. However, my father and I made an agreement to go to counseling to better our relationship. CPS tries to reason to improve the situation.
