But, the Tate family’s horror and shock had just begun. Debra Tate, later, learned her sister was savagely murdered, under the orders of Charles Manson. These murders were done by Manson’s followers, known as the Family. Led by Charles Manson, the Manson Family executed brutal, unforgettable murders with terrifying devotion.

The jury took a week to deliberate, and came with their verdict on January 25, 1971 that the jury found all defendants guilty on each count of first-degree murder. During the penalty phase, the jury declared the penalty of death. Shortly after the death penalty was considered unconstitutional in the state of California. All four defendants were commuted to life in prison.
Now, 82 years old Charles Manson continues to spend the rest of his days in prison, “These days, he’s full of bluster about being as free in prison as anyplace else. “You’re the one in prison, man”” (Hedegaard 10). Manson does not care about parole, rather, “He is busy in prison working within his own web page, one by which he can communicate with his followers worldwide” (Myers 1) Manson is a maximum security section of a state penitentiary in Concoran, California.
