“Beauty is more than a pretty face, its about having a pretty mind, pretty heart, and most important a pretty soul.” Isnt that a beautiful, naive thought? My first question for the author of this quote would be, how do you expect me to present my pretty soul during an interview or on a resume? You can 't. As much as we want to believe that personality matters, the first characteristic that people notice about you is your appearance. You don 't only need to appear appropriately for the superficial beliefs of others, but for the well being of yourself as well. What you wear affects the way you think, the way you feel, and the way you act or behave. You might think that dressing appropriately is overrated, but the benefits from doing it far outweigh the costs and time it takes dress nicely. Although you might not be dressing up for others, it affects the way people think about you. Your appearance is holding the key to your success.

As we grow older, we question that movie and its intentions that we were too young to understand. Who is the real beauty and who is the real beast? A puzzling question due to our society constantly telling us how we need to look and be perceived as in order to not be “the beast” and more of “the beauty”.

However, it is said that fashion helps people to decide how to dress. It can provide them some useful advice about what to wear in order to create a good impression. What is more, dressing fashionably increases self-confidence because it causes to be trendier and to receive nice comments. It is generally believed that the ones who wear fashionable clothes tend to feel more confident and self-assured.
In today’s society, beauty and perfection is being striven for like never before. Confronted with all the “beautiful” celebrities and photo-shopped magazine pictorials, women are facing an unrealistic expectation of how they should look. If they don’t have a thigh gap or a lean stomach, girls feel commensurate with themselves and try to change how they look just to appeal to society. How often have we been told as children that beauty on the inside is all that matters, yet we see and live by different statements. We live in a shallow culture based on looks. Look at all the celebrities we see. How many of them actually have talent or are worth such a high status if they did not have their looks? I wish I could say that there was a time period where this statement was not true, but it can’t be said, with the key example being Marge Piercy's poem, “Barbie Doll”. She wrote this poem in 1973 and its message on body image can still apply to today's time period.
