Outsider’s Essay The Outsider’s was a very good good. Full of fun, sadness and pain, it touches almost everyone’s heart. The book takes place in Tulsa, or around it, in Oklahoma in the late 1960’s. It goes through the life of a fourteen year old boy named Ponyboy, and how he lives his life as a Greaser. A type of hoodlums that use a lot of hair grease, wear leather jackets and carry around switchblades, and usually cause a lot of trouble. The story shows his struggles and victories, and how he pushes through the worst situation to find the better solution. My favorite character would have to be Johnny. A timid, nervous and lanky 16 year old, with black hair and eyes, and long bangs. He is the quiet on of the gang, never talking much, or even doing much either. He has two parents, but they don’t even acknowledge him. But when they do, he ends up getting beaten up. His best friend is Ponyboy, who is always there with him, most if the time. His idol is Dally, and he looks up to him, even though Dally loves him back, he doesn’t want Johnny to be like him; hard, rough and a no-good trouble maker. My least favorite would have to be Steve. He is nice, but not really to Ponyboy. He never enjoys when Soda brings Pony along. Steve doesn’t enjoy Pony’s company, and Pony is aware of that. …show more content…

He is not sure what he wants to be. He loves being a Greaser, but is not sure if he wants a future as one. He is a very emotionally mixed person. Trying to cope with school while trying to live with the fact that your best friend and another close friend are dead, and can’t share the rest of your life with you. His hopes are to have a happy family, even if it is just him and his brothers, and the gang. He is quiet, but not too shy. He stood up for people, and has had people stand up for him.
