This week’s two chapters were a little interesting to read about starting with chapter 9 motivation and emotions. The opening statement about Jennifer how to identify time-management peaked my interested. Since I am going through this right now with this class. I must keep myself motivated to finish my assignments and the assignments I have in other training classes I have with my work. The part that mention optimum arousal was interesting about levels of arousal being too high such as severe test anxiety. I wonder if this could be me. There was also a part that mention picking fights with your spouse maybe under aroused. I know sometimes when I’m bored I will give my wife a tough time just for the hell of it. Moving on to emotions the three
Tone and mood are two essential parts to writing or telling a story. Mood is the the atmosphere, climate, or feeling of a text while tone is the attitude and or feelings of the person presenting the story. “Adam” by Kurt Vonnegut Jr. and “Why soldiers won't talk” by John Steinbeck have two different moods and tones. Mood and Tone affects the way that the reader feels while reading the story.Sometimes all it takes to state the mood and tone is one sentence. While the tones of both stories are vastly different, there are similarities in there too.
Throughout history, motivation has been one of the components to survival. Motivation is needed to get up in the morning and go on about the day in order to survive. As humans began to evolve, so did society, which meant our drive and motivation were derived from different goals rather than one common one. Rather than depending on biological drive, humans started to depend on the system of rewarding the good behavior and punishing the bad. This operating is known as Motivation 2.0 (Pink, 2009). However, this method is flawed due to the fact that this implies that humans are no different from a herd of livestock.
On the first day of class, our teacher had a ton of books with different possible topics, and at first we really just couldn’t find anything that interested all of us. It was difficult to agree on anything completely, considering there were four of us, and then our teacher brought over a book called “Ten Days a Madwoman” about Nellie Bly, and we immediately were interested and agreed.
First off all, now that we were disconnected, we found plenty of hours for personal interest. We all read more that week than we had reread during the six months before. I finally decided to stride in the dark section of my closet all the books my sister gave me last year. I chose the book that seem most interesting from the cover and summary, I removed off the grey, long standing dust and just started reading, and I couldn’t keep my eyes off! Who knew I had an interest in urban novels. We also enjoyed some hobbies we had ignored for ages. Board games was not a hobby to joke about .Playing an old fashion Caribbean game of dominoes. My family would speak like a Spanish sailors saying profanity after profanity. Secretly while they holler, I would cheat and slowly switch my useless dominoes with the one of their valuable ones. In addition, my sister and I both stopped procrastination with our homework. We finish homework for the rest of the two weeks and projects that was due a month from now. With no technical distraction, I notice how fast I did my assignments. I didn’t have and urge to give up, I felt knowledgeable with no stress on my shoulders.
Interpersonal relationships represent one of the fields of action most studied today, since from the psychological perspective, there are diverse behaviors that must be understood for an effective stimulation of relationships between human beings. In this sense, there are different theories such as the one presented by Cialdini (2006), points out that within interpersonal relationships, there must be a motivational component that allows ideas to be better communicated between two or more people. In the same way, satisfy the set of intrinsic needs that go hand in hand with the reasons why they establish such communications between people.
Over the course of this class I have pieced together many things about my own life that before went unnoticed. I am now able to see things in a bit of a different light. Now that I have been introduced to the realm of psychology I understand some of the reasons for behavior around me. I have learned that there is a reason for most everything and a lot of our behaviors and mental processes can be explained through psychology. Studies have been conducted for many years to try and pinpoint the source of our behavior and it is not something that most people think about every day. Having a better understanding of why we operate the way we do will help me to better understand myself and the others around me.
On another note while learning all these wonderful things I also enjoyed the class as a whole. The class was interesting and but challenging. Even though we didn’t have enough time to learn more, I believe I still learned a lot of information .Each class session brought something new to learn, in an exciting way. This class helped me to think in a different way, through its class discussion, readings, and writing
Levels of motivation integrated with the impact it can have on an individuals and team performance in the work place.
Doing this unit on emotions and feeling made me realize that I have lots of different emotions. Doing the emotion chart and graph also made me realize that my mood change change and that I can have a good part of the day and a bad part of the day. I can make a negative situation into a positive one if I really try. Part of doing this really helped me learn about emotions and feelings and how they affect our daily lives. Your health is a big part of how you live, and we all need to be cautious about our health.
...attitude or rough tone with my boyfriend. I am realizing it is not fair for him or to myself to continue ignore my actions. I have also realized how much easier it is to communicate with each other when our moods are not effected by external factors. As I evaluate my development throughout the semester I am pleased with the current results, and with overall achievement. I feel we have to change together, and that is my true goal. I will continue to work on reactions and perceptions because I am aware that can cause great amounts of stress. Using specific skills such as the perception check and “I” statements will continue to give me a chance to gain a full understanding of the situation, and will allow me to choose my reactions wisely.
Teachers who participated in the research believe that affective education plays an important role in English teaching, especially after reform in college English book, which represents complicated contents, so many students had trouble adapting the new textbook. At same time, some of students had anxiety disorder even gave up the subject. And as we all know, their English performance and level of ability are usually poor, and they ignored culture knowledge for a long time for various reasons.
One particular morning I was scheduled to take a rather difficult, yet important exam and the very thought of this made me queasy. So to direct my mind another way, I volunteered to escort my sister to school, thinking this would alleviate my stress. As my sister and I headed to our destination, the thought of school only redirected my attention back to the apprehension I felt regarding what I had to do later in the day. Seeing that our expedition was coming to an end and that I was only closer to the event I’d been dreading most, my heart began racing. This, much to my surprise, only got worse to the point where the deliberation consumed my every thought and blinded me of all ...
fact how we behave and what we feel is only the tip of the iceberg. I
What are emotions defined as? And are there any universal emotions? Well the definition of emotion can be defined as the body’s adaptive response to certain situations. As for universal emotions. There are 6 emotions set by Ekman et al. (1972) as universal emotions. These emotions are most commonly known as Fear, Anger, Surprise, Sadness, Happiness and Disgust. What did Ekman et al. mean by universal emotions? Well they meant that these emotions are expressed in the same way (or at least in very similar ways).
It is a widely accepted opinion that teaching is a complex process in which teachers attempt to transfer specific knowledge or a target skill to the learners in given circumstances. The process attains the attributes of complexity, mainly for circumstantial or personal factors, and in some cases for the interplay of both.
