Writing is one of the most effective tools we have for learning and expressing what we know. It stands to reason that writing gives us an opportunity to communicate and connect with others. It is a useful and, moreover, effective way of promoting self-reflection and personal development. However, difficulties with writing lead to significant barriers in education and other life pursuits. In fact, I am very familiar with the challenges of writing as a student. But one of my biggest problem in writing is lack of concentration. Without sufficient attention to writing, I am not able to put my opinions on paper. Unfortunately, my heart makes it difficult to write even if my brain says ‘‘Come up Nazan! You should write.’’ Most importantly, I become easily anxious and unable to think if there is too much noise the place where I am studying. There is always something to distract me such as social media, friends, phone, television, video games and outing. Sometimes, my father is speaking very loudly on the phone, or my sister is making a lot of noise while singing a song, and those are the sufficient reasons to stop giving my attention to writing. Ultimately, lack of focus is killing my productivity. Therefore, lack of focus is one of the biggest challenges I have to tackle during my writing. However, I try improving my concentration with habits that help me focus on my writing and avoid distractions. I mostly read personal development books and blogs. Plus, I try working on improving my self-confidence in order that I could cope with my problems. I surround myself with friends who can encourage me to write.
