Ccu's Influence On My Academic Goals

While there are numerous events and experiences that have led me to this point, an experience that has and will influence my academic goals at CCU is what I would broadly describe as hearing from God, and this includes a couple of events. The first was what I would describe as my “calling”. I was in Springfield, Colorado, waiting in my semi-truck for a customer to retrieve his forklift to unload a pallet off my flatbed trailer, and while I was waiting I was reading my Bible. At the time I was very slowly working my way through the entire thing (which I had never done before), and had just begun Isaiah. I thought it was bizarre, and I was so hesitant to say it that I leaned over and whispered it to him. He gave me an incredulous look and backed up a step; I shrugged my shoulders as if to say “Yeah, I don’t know what that was about…” But then he told me that he had fought in Tae Kwon Do competitions around the world and was a champion black belt over thirty years ago, but he had buried that part of his past and had not spoken of it since then, not even to his own daughter. This proved to me that God not only knows us and speaks specifically to us as a general principle, but that my “radio” was tuned in to the correct channel! The next day we had elders and senior staff do listening prayer for every seminar attendee. The elder listening to God for me told me he had a picture of me in a cap and gown with a diploma in my hand. This was significant because that week I had just begun seriously considering returning to college to finish a degree! The other woman praying for me said she got a picture of a needle, which she thought represented me helping and counseling people with addictions, which is indeed something I have considered, and have done at a personal level with people I
