Based on the Peruvian nurse report, the mother are lacking of proper education regarding about how to use infant formula milk and bottle feeding correctly. In the report said that the Amazon tribes deep in the jungles of northern Peru, use the highly contaminated river water to mix the infant formula milk to feed their babies, then the babies came down with recurring attacks of diarrheal and vomiting.it is because of the river is laundry and toilet for the local people. Based on this situation Nestle should provide the correct information to the third world consumer. For example it must use the clean water to mix the infant formula milk to feed the baby. In additional, many parents of the third world dilute the formula to stretch their supply. Some of the third world’s parents even believe the infant formula has enough nutrient qualities for their babies and only fill in with water. In this situation, the company should stop to advertise and giving the sample to the parents. 2. What could Nestle have done to avoided the accusations of “ killing Third World babies” and still market its product? Nestle have done a lot of thing to avoided the accusation of killing third world babies and still market their product. Nestle have always think that breast milk is the best food for the babies and all of the products branded Nestle also have a statement state that the breast is the best food. Assume you are the one who had to make the final decision on whether or not to promote and market Nestlé’s baby formula in Third World countries. Read the section titles” ethical and Socially Responsible Decisions” in chapter 5 as a guide to examine the social responsibility and ethical issues regarding the marketing approach and the promotion used. Were the decisions socially responsible? Where they ethical In my opinion, the decision made was not socially responsible. It is because the company distribute the free sample of infant formula to the public, it means encourage the parent to use the formula milk. Moreover for the third world country, the price of the infant formula milk is too high. The price is about 1/3 weekly income for the family. For the advertisement and poster that they advertise was used idealistic imagery.There are very difficult to arise in decision making, establishing policies and engaging in business operation. There are five board area which are employment practice and policy, consumer protection, environment protection, political payment and involvement in political affair of the country and the basic human right and fundamental freedom. There are three type of ethical which are utilitarian ethics, rights of the parties and justice or fairness. All of these Ethical principles are used to help the marketer distinguish what are right things and what are the wrong things.
