NOTEWORTHY Sirs, I want to bring to your attention of what in my mind is the absolute epitome of excellent policing. Dan Jordens #3757, 12 years’ with the Calgary Police service. I have been Dan’s work partner for the past 22 months or so and become aware of the amount of high profile / serious incidents that he has dealt with. He tells me he just loves working the street… His experience in traffic safety, his competence and ability to process and deal with dozens of successful convictions of drunk drivers, and driving offences is a major drive for him. Dan has prosecuted and given evidence at numerous impaired driving convictions, being meticulous with his evidence and procedures he has always been successful. Dan is a husband to Michelle and a father to his now 14 year old daughter Amy. Dan was involved in the Cement truck incident where 5 family members were killed. In 2007 a cement truck driven by an erratic enraged driver rolled over a vehicle stationary at a red light instantly crushing and killing all the occupants of the vehicle including 3 young children aged 16 months, 6 and 9 years old. Dan saw that they did not need prosecution intervention but they did need HELP! He referred several agencies including bereavement counselling to the family who over a period of a couple of hours spoke, cried and thanked Dan again for being there. On leaving the residence which Dan describes to me as a nice family home with good people impacted by tragic events, Mrs. Brar said to Dan, I believe you were chosen to be here today, as you were the night my son died. Thank you for your compassion, discretion and leniency with my husband despite his actions. I believe Dan again been in the right place at the right time was able to Police with his emotional intelligence and impact another families life wearing the Calgary Police
