A study area is expected to capture the complexity of a single case, and the methodology which enables this has developed within the social sciences. Such methodology is applied not only in the social sciences, such as psychology, sociology, anthropology, and economics, but also in practice-oriented fields such as environmental studies, social work, education and business studies. In the research will try to capture the essence of case study methodology : firstly, by discussing the notions of “case study” and “case”. Secondly, by tracing its history; and finally, by making explicit its most characteristic features. The notions of “case study” and “case”. There are different ideas about what case study is. If try to find a common denominator that case study researchers (Yin 1994; Merriam 1994; Stake 1995,1998; Miles and Huberman 1994; Gillham 2001) might agree on, it would be something along the following lines: The study should have a “case” which is the object to study. The “case” should, be a complex functioning unit, be investigated in its natural context wit a multitude of methods, and must be contemporary.
Nevertheless, the case study researches mentioned above emphasize different features. Robert Stake (1998) points out that crucial to case study is a case: “as a form of research, case study

During British colonial times and early independence, Kuala Lumpur had been the capital of the country as well as the state of Selangor. On 1 April 1961, the name changed into Kuala Lumpur Suruhanjaya Ibu Kota. Kuala Lumpur later achieved city status in 1 February 1972 becoming the first settlement in Malaysia to be granted the status after independence. The name changed into Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur. Later, on 1 February 1974, Kuala Lumpur became a Federal Territory. Kuala Lumpur ceased to be the capital of Selangor in 1978 after the city of Shah Alam was declared as the new state capital. Patient says “The constant use of the bathroom for bowel movement has drastically decreased her sex drive, altered her social life, and is causing tension in her marriage
The patient, LL, is a twenty four year old female who was diagnosed with obsessive-compulsive disorder five years ago. Around the ago of eighteen, LL started to experience many symptoms of obsessive-compulsive disorder. She had just started her freshman year at a local college and moved into the dorms with a random roommate. LL was constantly washing her hands and grossed out by the germs, so she came to realize she had a phobia of germs. She would begin sweating and having major anxiety when people went to shake her hand or her roommate would touch her food or any of her things. LL started skipping class and isolating herself in her room in order to avoid contact with other people. When her grades dramatically declined,
Case study uses information obtained from one person or a few people to illuminate the behaviors of others and suggest further research. Sigmund Freud popularized case study along with his psychonalytic theory of personality. A major advantage of the case study is that focussed on one person allows researchers to gather a great deal of detailed information. The goal of a case study is to use the information gathered from one person to understand the behaviors of others. “The case study is often used by used by psychologist in order to research into aspects of the human psyche.” (Keirs, 2009) Psychologist use experiments, interviews, questionnaires, observations, diaries, and psychometric tests are used within a case study. There are two basic types of case study; retrospective and longitudinal. In retrospective, your information comes from the history of the person you are studying. If it were a person who was being studied, you would have been to interview the person about their childhood and their family, as a result developed a report of their life and early life. In contrast longitudinal, investigates the future. They research consequences of a certain situation that has happened. The key feature in the case study method is subject matter. The subject matter is usually a person or an animal. Much like experimental case study, it often uses variables. As with any other method, it has its advantages and disadvantages. The advantage of case study is the ecological validity of it. The information that is used in these studies is from real life environment. The information is good information because the research is so in depth. The research if often very useful. There are also disadvantages and potential disadvantages. One main disadvantage is case studies usually relate to one individual, and what applies to you may not apply to me. Replication would not be easy with case study because of the unique situations.
This will be a discussion of qualitative research. It will define qualitative research, as well as look at the similarities and differences in the quantitative and qualitative research paradigms. Furthermore, this discussion will look into qualitative case study research and phenomenological research, with further contemplation of purposes, methods, and limitations for these two methods.
The purpose of this case study is to investigate and bring new insight to situations and behaviors within an organization. Case studies are learning tools which utilize social science research to identify and resolve individual and organizational challenges (K. Mariama-Arthur Esq., 2015).
Lean startup method helps entrepreneurs to develop businesses and products. This method first developed by Eric Ries in 2008. Eric Ries gained a lot of experience in U.S. startups before developing the Lean Startup method. Ries states that: '' Startups shorten their product development cycle by following businesss hypothesis driven experimentation, repetitive product unleashes and validated learning processes. This method prioritize customers and their needs in order to minimize market risks and some initial costs.
Before I start making the assignment, I have read the case to get and understanding the big picture or the situation in the case study. After that, I analyse the case first by understanding the content in the case study and think creatively the relation between the case and the topic. Then, I read the case again and actively take notes or underline passages. After that, I discussed with my team to identify the key issues in this case, to know the problem that are related with this case study. After I identify the issues in this case, I and my team member generate possible solutions, think about consequences of various paths of action, and weight the advantages and limitations of solutions.
This integrative approach focuses mainly on four approaches: psychoanalytic, Adlerian, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and the postmodern approaches. The main focus is on CBT and how psychoanalytic, Adlerian and the postmodern approaches build on this integrative approach. In this integrative approach, the problem at hand is a client dealing with depression. I chose CBT as the main approach because the cognitive thought pattern is an important key for a client and CBT can branch out to other approaches, without interfering with the key concepts.
The word scenario appears in the dictionaries with two main meanings. The first, as reported by the Cambridge Dictionary, is “a written plan of the characters and events in a play or film” so it assumes the sense of plan. For instance, in the context of movie, a scenario is, more precisely, the part of the screenwriting process which precedes the screenplay, so it is a synoptical collage of events or series of actions. In this acceptation, scenarios are used in project and product planning to represent hypothetical sequences of happenings constructed to take into account the causal interrelations.
In general, I consider my greatest strength in the case study tutorials to be a confidence and willingness to contribute, which is certainly something I have struggled with in the past (during A levels, etc.). Having gained experience in group work and in leading a group project in my foundation year at Keele, I now find it far easier to speak up in these situations. I consider myself to generally be a very quiet person, so it has taken a lot of development to get to the point where I am able to speak out loudly and clearly. I am pleased with what I have achieved in this regard.
Case studies are a collection of data obtained using various methods gathered on an individual or group to record areas of interest in order to assist with analysis and provide recommendations. The study should include the name of the person, although this should be protected to provide anonymity where appropriate, and a brief description of the subject. The setting where the study is to be performed should be included. The aim of the observation must be presented along with a report of the findings. The type of method used will depend upon the subject and the area of interest. Data is gathered on the subject in this case observations were used to provide the data. An interpretation of the study will be made in order to provide a conclusion and recommendations made if applicable. Freud famously used the case studies that he carried out on his patients to develop his Psychoanalytic Theory.
Process Management can be defined as a concept which helps integrate performance excellence and quality into the strategic management of organizations. Process management includes activities such as defining a process, establishing responsibilities, evaluating process performance and also identifying opportunities for improvement. Innovation, on the other hand, can be defined as the conversion of knowledge and ideas into new or improved products, processes or services to gain competitive advantage. After reading the first article it is clear that it focuses mainly on three different programs that are associated with process management. These three processes are listed as TQM, ISO 9000, and Six Sigma.
Research methodology should be understood as a whole, consisting of tools, methods of collecting, interpreting and analysing the data collected. These include:
What is strategic management? In this study we will view what a manager’s role is and the development of strategic management has an affect on their companies performance. We will examine strategic management, what the benefits and problems are when utilizing strategic management, and how to implement strategic management in the company.
...chniques and procedures among those associated with quantitative or qualitative research. A literature review, which included document analysis, was used to answer sub-questions one, two and three. A model building approach was suggested to answer sub-question four. In addition, the study uses a case study as a proof-of-concept. The use of a case study is a qualitative empirical study to strengthen the research validity. Since the research methods directly responding to the research questions (Literature review and Model building) make use of textual data, we classified this study as a qualitative study. Table 3.1 below summarises the classification of this study in terms of the dimensions discussed above.
