To make the stadium more effective, many changes must be made. These changes range from the installation of solar panels, to less tvs. Solar panels, for instance, would generate energy for the stadium, using less from coal plants and nuclear power plants. If installed correctly, the profit return from these could be in the next 7 years. They have the potential to power most of, if not the whole stadium. This could be easier if more efficient stadium lights were in place.
The current stadium lights being used are poor when it comes to the efficient use of energy. LED lights are a modern and new technology which could greatly improve the stadium’s current power consumption. Along with energy, they could also provide the audience with light shows as leds can change color and brightness. This attraction could boost ticket sales and possibly pay off the LEDs and eventually even make profit. The stadium could greatly benefit from LEDs, and even make LED pool lights. In the case of Chase Field, the pool they have is possibly one of the biggest issues they have in general.

Since removing the pool is unlikely for the stadium, is would be best to find ways to make it more efficient. The lights for it could be replaced with LED lights, as mentioned previously. Also, heating could be removed altogether as most pools don’t use it and the Arizona heat can provide much of that anyways. The most unnecessary factor of the pool would be the water jets used whenever a home run is made. The Dallas Cowboys, America’s football team, one of the most well known professional football franchises in the sport’s history. The Cowboys own five super bowl titles, which were won in ’71, ’77, ’92, ’93 and ’95. They are also home to 19 renowned individuals who have been inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame including standout football stars Tony Dorsett, Emmit Smith, and Troy Aikman. Established in 1960, the Cowboys have been a dominating force on the field and still continue to produce to this day. The Phelps Dodge Corporation owned and operated several copper mines in the American southwest through the 19th and 20th centuries. Throughout the later decades of the 20th century, Phelps Dodge had established corporate dominance in the copper mining industry, but with the American economy beginning a downturn in 1981, the falling price of copper began to have significant impacts on Phelps Dodge profitability. Callaway Golf Company began to take form in 1983, after Ely Reeves Callaway Jr. sold Callaway Vineyard and Winery for a $9 million dollar profit. Shortly after the sell of the winery, Callaway ventured in to the golf equipment industry and bought 50 percent of Hickory Stick USA. Callaway knew from the very beginning that this company’s profits were limited as long as the product line wasn’t changing. “Callaway noticed that most golf equipment had changed very little since the 1920s and believed that , due to the difficulty of the game of golf, recreational golfers would be willing to invest in high-tech, premium-priced clubs if such clubs could improve their game by being more forgiving of a less-than-optimum swing.” (Thompson, c205) Callaway then purchased the company outright and changed the name to Callaway Hickory Stick USA and then hires Richard Helmstetter as the companies’ chief club designer. With the help of five aerospace engineers, Helmstetter developed line of clubs that was set apart form competing brands by its technological innovation. In 1988, the S2H2 was launched as well as another name change to Callaway Golf Company. In 1992, sales are more than double recent years and Callaway Golf Company goes public and begins trading on the NYSE. Throughout the 90’s, Callaway leads the golf equipment industry with ongoing new lines of clubs and eventually adds golfing apparel. Donald Dye, Callaway’s new CEO, took the much of the blame for the downturn in Callaway Golf Company. Dye was ultimately responsible for initiatives that took managements focus off golf clubs. The company’s financial and market performance suffered immensely in 1998 causing Ely Callaway to return to rebuild the company. The textbook states on page c208, “Ely Callaway’s first efforts upon his return to active management at Callaway Golf were to ‘direct resources---talent, energy, and money--- in an ever-increasing degree toward the creation, design, production, sale and service of new and better products.’” In Callaway’s turnaround strategy, he initiated a restructuring program and operational improvements. It is with great pleasure that I write this letter of recommendation for Tony Irwin for The James Worth Bagley College of Engineering (BCoE) Hall of Fame. During the summer of 2015, Tony was selected as an intern at Johns Manville in Richland, Mississippi. Many people don't understand the point in playing baseball. Why would someone swing a stick, hit a ball, and try to get back to where they started before the ball returns? What pleasure is there in that? Why not participate in a sport like wrestling or track where there is an obvious level of individual improvement and therefore pleasure. Well, I play baseball because of the love I have for the sport, and because of the feeling that overwhelms me every time I walk onto a baseball field. When I walk onto a field I am given the desire to better myself not only as an athlete, but also as a person. The thoughts and feelings I get drive me to work hard towards my goals and to be a better person. The most relevant example of these feelings is when I stepped on the field at Runyon Complex in Pueblo, Colorado during our high school state playoffs in 2003. This baseball field will always be an important place to me.
