I am pleased to write a letter of recommendation for Caroline Scippa for her application to the Drama Therapy program of the California Institute of Integral Studies. I have known Caroline for more than ten years. I came to know her very well when we were both undergraduate students in the Department of Theatre & Dance of University of California, San Diego. I was so pleased to hear when Caroline was planning to enroll in the drama therapy program at CIIS and it is on the basis of this experience that I write a letter of unequivocal support.

The liberal arts curriculum UCSD’s Theatre & Dance department is designed to provide the educational experience of a small Ivy League college within a large public university and is consistently ranked among the top graduate theatre training programs in the country. The program also shares a close relationship with the Tony Award-winning La Jolla Playhouse where both Caroline and I were part of theatrical productions featuring the work of undergraduate actors, as well has having the opportunity to take part in …show more content…

We took several acting courses together, such as Contemporary, Chekhov, Voice, Speech and Dialects, and Singing. Caroline pursued further training at the British American Drama Academy at the Oxford University and the Studio ACT in San Francisco after graduation. I witnessed many of Caroline’s theatrical works on and off stage and I know that she is a performer and theatre artist at her core which I believe is an invaluable quality to have for the program she is applying for. I personally am aware of how reading- and writing-intensive the drama therapy program is and I have no doubt that Caroline will thrive and succeed in understanding, appreciating, and reaping the full benefits of the graduate level course
