The inquiry process is a tool that can be used for brainstorming knowledge and gathering conclusions. Anyone can use the inquiry process, if they relate it to their specific situation. It involves asking questions while retaining additional information about the topic. The inquiry process can be looked at this way: the more questions you ask, the more knowledge you can gain. There are steps to the inquiry process. These steps include (in order) asking questions, gathering and interpreting information, and reflecting on what you learned during the process. The inquiry process can be used in career exploration by asking questions about what you achieve to do in a career, explore different careers, gain knowledge about the different careers and finally establish your conclusion. The purpose of career exploration is finding a career that fits you and that you will enjoy. I specifically, used the career exploration process along with the inquiry process to help find, evaluate, and decide what I want to do after I graduate from college. My third and final source talks about setting goals (Thedford 2004). A goal should be specific and realistic to what exactly it is you want to achieve. Within the next ten years I plan to be running my own business in Charlotte, North Carolina. I will be a sole proprietor and will be selling sporting equipment online and in retail stores.
