The issue I am discussing is how pediatric cannabis therapy is saving young cancer patients. Parents have saved or made their kids feel better by using cannabis. Cannabis (Medical Marijuana) or THC is “When THC enters the body, it attaches to and stimulates cannabinoid receptors in the brain. This statement means chemotherapy works by killing the cancer cells but it also kills any healthy cells as well. Whereas the cannabis treatment and all of it components work together to kill cancer cells but does not affect any other healthy cells. Doctors has shown that cannabis can also decrease the side effects of cancer and chemo therapy like nausea, vomiting and muscle pain.
With such little research there is no exact right dosage to give your child. This can be very risky for parents and almost feel like gambling. “There is no proven safe or effective dose for marijuana in children” (MAYO Clinic). Also many parents think pot is just getting stoned and kills and alters you brain. But there are many people who don’t forget. These people are the parents of sick kids who cannabis or medical marijuana has saved their child’s life. The most popular success story going around is of 7 year old Mckayla or Know as brave McKayla. They started calling her brave McKayla because it was a risky chance fighting her cancer with cannabis but it defiantly paid off. BraveMckayla.com informs readers all about her diagnoses and treatment. Mckayla became ill in 2012 doctors thought it was strep throat and immediately put her on antibiotics. This only made it worse she now had rashes and bruises on her body and had now energy. Doctors said they should try taking a away dairy. This too was a sad mistake. This only made McKayla worse. After nights of irregular heartbeats and cold sweats they took her to the pediatrician. The pediatrician found a “basketball” sized tumor. On July 13th of 2012 he was diagnosed Leukemia. They sent Mckayla family to Portland Oregon to under many test and biases. And then started chemo therapy. In the United States there are only 2 treatments for cancer; radiation and chemotherapy both very toxic to the human body. Chemotherapy demobilized McKayla she couldn’t run, play or eat. The chemo therapy cause her to vomit almost every day. As an adult you’re allowed to refuse treatment but a child can not and neither can their parents. Now McKayla
