This diversity has been foundational in the company’s long standing success even during difficult times in its history. The company has been successful in the development and sales of trucks, cars of various size, SUV’s, and sports care (Ferrell, Hartline, 2014).

Who doesn’t love a beautiful sports car? Chevrolet has a long history with product innovation with the Corvette, and in 2010 brought back the much loved Camaro. The impala continues to be a leader in the full size market, but has seen some decline in reviews in recent years. The Cruze was a surprise hit for Chevrolet and has sold approximately 270,000 cars in 60 countries. It has an appealing price tag, good gas mileage, and current technology that makes it a leader in the industry. Chevrolet also has several other options on the market that include the Sonic, Malibu, and Spark.

Trucks outsold cars for Chevrolet, and have a long history with towing capacity, smooth ride, and the strong ties to Americana. The car has also had issues with batteries catching fire after crashes. IT is competing directly in a tough market with Nissan’s Leaf. Fortunately, the Volt runs off battery and gasoline as compared to the Leaf that is battery powered only. With the Volt having the option to run off gasoline gives the river a sense of relief if they were to run out of battery life.

The strengths in the product mix would be the stability of the truck market, the long standing appeal of the large SUV, the award winning cross-over vehicles, the highly successful car models, and the steady sales in sports cars.
