Recommended: What similarities between buddhism and islam

Two of the most influential religions around the globe are Buddhism and Islam. Both religions trace back to the 6th century. They are among the top five major religions around the world. Today, Islam ranks second as an organized religion and has more followers than Buddhism. Buddhism and Islam mostly have basic beliefs that are relatively different from each other. Buddhism originated from Nepal, India and is based off the teachings of Buddha and denies the existence of any kind of god. Meanwhile, Islam originated from Mecca, Saudia Arabia where Prophet Muhammad was born and is based off of one God, Allah, who is all great and powerful. Some examples of differences and similarities between Buddhism and Islam include their practices, sacred texts, and their beliefs of life after death and the afterlife.
Buddhism and Islam are pretty different when it comes to their practices and beliefs. Buddhism does not believe in a creator of God. Their practices consist of the Threefold Training: Morality, Concentration, and Wisdom. On the other hand, Islam’s only believe in one almighty God, Allah. Their practices consist of the Five Pillars. The Five pillars include witness, worship, alms, fasting, and pilgrimage. The first pillar is known as Shahadah which means “bearing witness.” Shahadah is the testament that there is one God and that Muhammad is his messenger. This is the core profession of faith for Muslims around the world. The second pillar, worship, is referred to as Salat. Salat are obligatory prayers that must be performed 5 times a day at certain times. These times are during dawn, noon, afternoon, sunset, and after dark. ...up in Paradise or Hell. Until the Day of Judgment arrives for Muslims, their departed souls remain in graves awaiting the resurrection. However, they will begin to feel what is destined for them. Those meant for heaven will feel a sense of peace meanwhile those going to hell will suffer in their graves.
Despite their differences in beliefs, Buddhism and Islam are some of the most dominant religions that have had great influence on people throughout the centuries. Both religions believe in a higher power and are faithful to their beliefs. Although there may be more differences than similarities, both religions are highly respected and practiced by people all over the world today. Buddhism and Islam has challenged the minds and enriched the spiritual lives of many millions of people. These religions have spread far beyond the land of their origin. (Oxtoby and Segal).
