Bruce Lee was born in San Francisco, California on the 27th of Nov. 1940. Child of Lee Hoi-

Cheun, his father who was a high ranking member of the Cantonese Opera Company, and

Lee Jun Fan, his mother. He was brought up in Chinatown San Francisco until they

abruptly moved back to their hometown Kawloon, Hong Kong in 1941. His mother wanted

him to be raised in China and to learn the traditions of his ancestors. Bruce Lee always had the attitude and charisma of one who was destined for greatness, and he also had a passion

to become an actor. He starred in his first move when he was only six years of age. His first

movie was called “The Birth of Mankind” and he was natural. He also starred in several

Bruce had a tremendous passion for acting, but an even greater passion and lust for

martial arts. At the age of 18 he won his first championship title of the Hong Kong Cha

Cha tournament, under the teachings of Master Yip. His focus was primarily on martial

arts and for that reason school was of little to no importance. He had a vague relationship

with his teachers, and he was known in the school as the trouble maker. La Salle finally

expelled Bruce, as they could only tolerate so much. In desperation Bruce’s mother

enrolled him quickly into St. Francis Xavier, where he could further be educated and

practice his fighting skills in a safe environment (as they were well known for their boxing

program). Later on Bruce entered the boxing tournament and flew through each round

with minor difficulty. Gary Elms was from a rivaling school named “King George V High”,

a British school, and he was also the 3 time champ. Bruce defeated Gary in the 3rd round

by a way of knockout.

In 1958 Lee entered an organized event in Hong Kong. It was a series of fights on a designated

rooftop. To win such tournament one must make their opponent cross a set line. Lee took on
