The purpose of this paper is to explore and discuss the bioecological and biopsychosocial health in relation to John and Anne’s scenario of domestic violence from CaseWorld. This paper will scope across the effects of domestic violence on Anne’s own bioecological model and will be explored with the use of Bronfenbrenner’s theory. Discovering the effects on Anne’s microsystems, individual effects and lastly the mesosystem of impact on the relationships in Anne’s microsystem. As well as, examining the three models of health biomedical, psychological, and sociological to discover the actual and potential impacts of domestic violence which are effecting Anne, John and their two children Dylan and Jessica. The violence is having an actual impact on John’s biomedical as by him hitting Anne this could lead him to further injury his back. John is consuming excessive amounts of alcohol continuously which leads to the violence occurring. It is not only physical injuries from hitting Anne, but also alcohol has many health risks associated with it including liver disease, brain damage, heart disease, high blood pressure and increases John’s risk of many cancers (guidelines for alcohol consumption 2013). Additionally, John is also being effected psychologically as chronic pain and stress are closing related. Chronic pain can cause feelings such as anger, hopelessness, sadness and anxiety, this potentially could be leading John to use alcohol as a relaxant which overall is causing him to lash out towards Anne (Bruns & Kerns 2013) John goes to the pub frequently to socialise and drink, this may be having potential effects causing John to lash out towards Anne. This is because ‘research shows that heavy drinking and intoxication are associated with physical aggression’ (Morgan & Chadwick 2009). Domestic violence may be potentially impacting Jessica and Dylan’s biomedical as they may be turning to substance use and self harm. Substances could have a severe impact on their brains and impair senses. Violence may be effecting the psychologically causing them to have feelings of depression, anxiety and aggression (Bromfield et al. 2010). Domestic violence is also effected them socially as it is suggested that they do not have any friends come over to their house as they may be afraid and embarrassed as to what their friends may
