Looking in my mom’s yearbook, majority of the students have braces. Comparing her yearbook to my yearbook from this year, almost half of my class has perfectly straight pearly white teeth and a few still have braces. Over the years, orthodontist have been putting children in braces earlier and faster than they did years ago. Due to this, some patients are having to get a second set of braces because their jaw has shifted and teeth are out of line again. Early orthodontic care is necessary for cases that are in desperate need to correct problems like an overbite or crossbite. Orthodontist are seeming to put braces and start treatment on children that have not even lost all over their primary teeth, causing the second set of braces later on. Are orthodontist giving their patients the best option for them or is it the best option for their pocket? When our parents think of braces, a sudden image of head gear and thick metal bands come to mind. They used to have a bulky metal band hugging the entire tooth, although today that is not the case. As generations passed by they became more esthetic (Bren, 2005). The metal bands are now brackets in a much smaller size. If your parents remember braces in that form, it leads you to the question how long have braces been around? Most people believe an orthodontist and a dentist have two extremely similar jobs all because they both work with the human mouth. This, however, is not entirely true. An orthodontist focuses on a patient's mouth, straightening teeth and even jaws when necessary. Orthodontists will always make sure that jaws are properly aligned before recommending braces. Depending on each patient, the number of years wearing braces can vary (“Become an Orthodontist”).
Orthodontics could completely change in the future as this article states, “In the next fifty years, we might be looking at technology that helps teeth grow in straighter, instead of simply trying to straighten them once they have grown in.” (“What Orthodontics Might Look Like In 50 Years?”). New ideas of how to improve the process of orthodontics is remarkable because the ideas get better and better. Hopefully in the future there will be a way to make teeth grow in straight instead of wasting time with braces and have to spend all the money and time on them.

From the beginning of time man and nature has been in conflict with one another because, as a whole, there is no cooperating. Each one tirelessly wants its way. The Man is fighting for dominance and nature w never yielding its authority. In American Literature, many authors illustrate this theme in their writing. Specifically the writers Jack London in The Law Of Life, Stephen Crane The Open Boat and Mark Twain’s Huckleberry Fin. Each explores the relationship between humans and nature but with slightly different methods. Mark Twain uses nature in a realistic way, Jack London in a naturalistic way and Stephen Crane constitutes a combination of both.
Have you ever felt stuck? Wherever you are, it’s the absolute last place you want to be. In the book Into the Wild, Chris McCandless feels stuck just like the average everyday person may feel. Chris finds his escape plan to the situation and feels he will free himself by going off to the wild. I agree with the author that Chris McCandless wasn’t a crazy person, a sociopath, or an outcast because he got along with many people very well, but he did seem somewhat incompetent, even though he survived for quite some time.
Cursive Writing has been around for decades. Thus removing it from common core standards of learning, has caused quite controversey. I personally was taught cursive writing as a child and I practically never write in cursive. Therefore I don't think it should be listed in schools common core of standards. Reason one being we don't nearly rely on writing, let alone cursive writing as much as we used to. Also with advanced technology thats among us today we don't need cursive. We should be more concerned of what computer skills students have. With that being said another reason cursive shouldn't be in the common core standard, is cursive holds no beneficiary to students now days. Technology has evolved and so have we.
Orthodontic treatment can greatly improve ones’ self-esteem, attitude, and make ones’ life happier. A beautiful smile can always brighten someone day tremendously. The benefits of orthodontic treatment go beyond the apparent physical changes of an important and straighter smile; it is likewise a great way to mend a person’s overall self-image. Having a beautiful straight smile is imperative, even more important is the essential to alleviate any possible health problems associated with the teeth or jaw. USA today has posted a statistic saying that there are 41 states that do not require cursive to be taught(Tarshis). As of recently the Common Core standards do not require penmanship, specifically cursive, as they use to in favor of typing and print. Cursive Writing is an unnecessary skill that should not be taught. With the digital age growing and devices being more and more common the ability to write in flowing letters is not needed. All my life I was asked the question, have I ever had braces before? I never really exactly saw what others seen in my teeth, until one day when I had my first real dentist visit. The dentist office was very interesting, from the way it looked to the way they operated (I always thought the dentist did the same as a doctor). As I went in for my cleaning the dentist saw that I had a couple cavities, I was trying to figure out what was a cavity. How is this affecting my nice teeth? Am I going to lose the tooth? All these things ran through my mind as I heard the news. The dentist came in and explain everything to me and my mom, gave us the option for fixing this problem. From that day forward I had a billion and one question about how the teeth
