Without the crucial effective materials that make up of body armor, in order to protect officers against all sorts of handguns, knives, and blunt trauma, the body armor would be ineffective. The ballistic panels that are used in bulletproof vest can be made up of different materials, depending on the manufacturer. Body armor is put up to certain test before being able to be sold, therefore, the different materials should all provide the same minimum levels of protection. Unfortunately, some body armors do not always end up passing the tests. For example, a body armor called Zylon, have been shown to fail after a short period of time.
