If you are trying to decide between two sports, just do what this person did. He became a professional baseball and football player. I think Bo Jackson is one of the most talented people on this earth. Bo Jackson should be inducted into the NFL hall of fame, because of his long list of achievements, his innovation, and his inspiration.
The first reason Bo Jackson should be in the hall of fame is his long list of achievements. When Jackson was in high school, he was a two time state decathlon champion (“Bo Jackson biography”). During his college career he was named football player of the year and all American running back by the Sporting News. After going to professional football, Jackson was voted by his coaches and other person into the

Bo Jackson was the first athlete to be named all-star in baseball and in the NFL’s Pro Bowl. Jackson broke many records in the NFL. Bo had a career record of 2,782 yards on 515 carries with 16 touchdowns. Jackson was the first and only man to play professional baseball and football simultaneously (“Bo Jackson …show more content…
When he had his hip injury and had to get surgery, he did not quit, he kept playing (“Bo Jackson Biography”). This inspired athletes all over the nation, because he showed an injury does not mean you stop following your dream. “He came back with a prosthetic hip and was able to battle back” (“Bo Jackson Yellowhammer”). Jackson has inspired many to follow their dream. He proved that even against all odds, you can still reach your dream if you just try your hardest and not give up: Set your goals high and don’t give up until you reach that goal.
Several people say that Bo liked baseball more than football and that is true. But this does not mean he did not try his hardest and does not belong in the NFL Hall of Fame. Jackson broke many records in his career: was named MVP in the Pro Bowl, Cotton Bowl, and Rookie of the Year. Not only did he break many records, he continued to break records after his injury. So if Jackson does not deserve to be in the hall of fame after all his accomplishments, then no one should be in the hall of fame at
He was later inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1962. Jackie Robinson should not only be recognized for his on-field accomplishments, but for what it took for him to get there as well. Throughout all of the racism in America and baseball, he endured it and pushed through it to set himself up for ultimate success. He endured the hardships of being the only African-American in the league at the time and taking all the hate from the racists, while still putting up remarkable numbers. Even as a white man during the time of integration in baseball, you could have nothing but respect for Jackie Robinson.
does have downfalls in his reputation and his actions throughout the long term of his life, but he still changed the game of baseball and gave people hope while doing so. When all the fame, rush of the spotlight, youth, and the wild side of Babe ruth settled down, his great qualities and the good he did really started to shine through. He did fill the stands of baseball by giving people hope and thrill throughout the war time and Great Depression (Family). He set stunning records that would forever be remembered in the baseball community and in the United States in general. It requires a unique and special hero to continue to have the effect that Babe Ruth still has today. Babe Ruth does deserve to be recognized as one of the most influential people in
There are very many people who vote for players to go in the Hall of Fame, but many people may have the same opinion as Tom Verducci who stated,
In the year of 1824, tempers were flaring and insults were being exchanged as politicians argued over who would be the sixth president of the United States. John Quincy Adams and Andrew Jackson were the two major candidates in the election. However, this would be an election that would be remembered in history for its unique result. Despite being the more popular candidate, Andrew Jackson would not become the president. The presidential election of 1824 is remembered as one of the most controversial elections to have ever occurred in the history of the United States.
Bart Giamatti’s decision to ban Pete Rose from the Baseball Hall of Fame was not a fair decision at all. Pete Rose was placed on Baseball’s ineligible list in 1989 when commissioner of baseball, Bart Giamatti concluded that Rose had bet on baseball games, including games involving his own team, the Cincinnati Reds. In an agreement made with Baseball, Rose accepted his banishment from the sport. Although he never admitted to having gambled on baseball games (Maury). Pete Rose was a phenomenal baseball player and manager. He was accused of gambling. His team while he was managing was supposedly involved. Bart Giamatti’s severe punishment of Pete Rose is a very controversial topic in the world of sports. There are a few rules that must have been followed to be inducted to the Hall of Fame. The one that is keeping Rose away is rule five. Rule five states: Voting shall be based upon the player’s record, playing ability, integrity, sportsmanship, character, and contributions to the team or teams on which the player played (Maury). This rule has been tested and beaten many times. Many players have entered the Baseball Hall of Fame such as the very unlikable Ty Cobb, the drinking Babe Ruth, the umpire abusing John McGraw, the racist Cap Anson, Gaylord Perry a suspected cheater, and the gambling Leo Durocher. Those are just a few of the baseball players who somehow made into the Hall of Fame and got passed rule five (Ritter). Pete Rose’s problem was not even as severe as all of these other men.
Robinson, Mark D. Ph. D. “Every Black Kid Should Strive to Be a Professional Athlete”.
...y would argue that no other quarterback will be able to ever match his level of success. Even though he was interested in other sports as a young boy, it is crystal clear that he was supposed to play football. At six feet five inches and 230 pounds, we can assume that he would be a formidable opponent in any sport; but looks don't count. Actions are what count, and Peyton has certainly delivered in that department.
President Jackson singlehandedly led the destruction of the Native Americans with his aggressive actions and hostile decisions. President Jackson shirked his responsibility to protect the Naïve Americans of the United States by ignoring the Supreme Court’s decision, promoting legislation to bring about the separation of Native Americans and whites, and his decision to involve United States Armed Forces against Indian Tribes. If it was not for President Jackson’s actions, the future of the Native Americans would have been different or at least
The Age of Jackson, written by Arthur M. Schlesinger, focuses on the long lasting effects of Andrew Jackson on democracy and American politics. The novel starts off with Jackson’s life story, a lowerclass boy from the west, raised by a single mother. After finding financial success on his own, he became well known for his military exploits, being a crucial factor in the Battle of New Orleans, and the acquisition of Florida from the Spanish. After the brief account of Jackson’s life, the author moves on to his administration, and stays with that topic for most of the book.
Andrew Jackson’s presidency could easily be described as one of the most controversial ones of all time. Honoring Jackson by putting his face on the 20 dollar bill in 1928 was an absolute mistake for the country. Jackson does not deserve his existing place on the 20 dollar bill. His policies towards the “Spoils System”, Native Americans, and Vetoes can all establish why Jackson is so unworthy of praise. Jackson’s abuse of power throughout his entire presidency makes him the perfect target for a deserved hatred from the American people.
Michael Jackson, born Michael Joseph Jackson was on August 29, 1958, in Gary, Indiana, son of Joseph and Katherine Jackson. Together they had nine children; Rebbie, Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, LaToya, Marlon, Randy, Michael, and Janet. His father was an aspiring guitarist, but had to give up his musical ambitions to provide for his family; however, he encouraged his children to take up music. Although Michael had no formal musical educational training, he gained experienced through the music group he had with his brothers, the Jackson 5. In the 1960s Joseph along with three of Michael’s older brothers, Jermaine, Tito, and Jackie, formed a musical group. When he and his brother, Marlon, joined the group it became the Jackson 5. Before signing to Motown Records, Jackson 5 toured around the Midwest, performing in a string of clubs and opening for the likes of The O’Jays, Etta James, and Gladys Knight. In 1968 the group was signed to one of the major record labels of the time, Motown Records, by its founder Berry Gordy. With their father as the manager of the group, they moved to Los Angeles, California to start recording. They released their first album, “Diana Ross Presents the Jackson 5” in December 1969. In 1975 they split with Motown Records, over more creative control over the songs, and signed with Epic Records. Now with creative control over the songs, the group continued to experience tremendous success throughout the 1970s. As time went on a progressed throughout the 1980s and 1990s Michael would face various obstacles and difficulties. Such difficulties include; two child sexual abuse accusations, a long fought custodial battle with his first wife, Lisa Marie Presley, and swirling rumors about the paling skin color over the yea...

Even after reaching that milestone his Hall of Fame credentials were questioned by the media. The one fact that is pionted out most oftern is the fact that his .287 lifetime batting average is second lowest in the 3000 hit club. Only Carl Yastremsky, whose lifetime average was .285, is lower. They are also quick to point out he went to only 3 all-star games in his 19 year career, and he has never veen considered one of the games best players. But one sports writer says that: "Yount's hit total is enough on it's own to qualify him for the Hall." (Kurkjian p.48)
