The Three-Fold Influence of Bill Gates Bill Gates is one of the most powerful, famous and wealthy people in the world. He is also one of the biggest philanthropists who are responsible for giving away billions of dollars to worthy causes and people in need all over the world. As a self-made businessman and founder of Microsoft, Bill Gates has had more influence over the basic aspects of peoples ' lives than almost any other person in the world. These three factors of wealth, philanthropy, and invention mean that Bill Gates, for me, is one of the most influential people in the history. By exploring each of these factors, in turn, I will draw a picture of Bill Gates that will attempt to show just how influential he has been to everyone. In addition, I will discuss how the different areas of his influence can be seen to create who he is in the world today. Without a doubt Bill Gate 's wealth gives him a huge amount of influence. So it came as no surprise when he took over his father’s previous foundation called the William gates Foundation and renaming it the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation in 1997. Quickly donations were made to many universities and colleges such as the University of Washington. They were awarded a donation of twelve million dollars. The Gates Foundation also contributed two million dollars to the Seattle Area YMCA, twenty million dollars to the Seattle Public Library, and one million dollars to the Tacoma Art Museum.
