Successful companies have more than just a responsibility to their own gain in order to sustain their success. The effects of their profits spread to the stakeholders and communities in which they serve. Companies have to consider the impact their organization have on the society and those involved in their success. One way to obtain this goal is through the triple bottom line: people, planet and profit. Triple bottom line for many companies is used to measure and report their performance to minimize any harmful effects on the environment due to business practices. First, the Electronic Industry Citizenship Coalition protects the rights of employees in their supply chain and industry partners to improve working conditions and environmental globally. (Best Buy, 2015) Second, their Best Buy Code of Business Ethics and Best Buy Supplier Code of Conduct and Conflict Minerals Statement ensures their workplace is free of harassment and decimation and that allows their employees to express any concerns and improve working conditions. Next, their Best Buy Valuable Information Protection program and privacy policy ensures personal information of their customers are secure. Through their human rights commitment, Best Buy aligned its practice with United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Right (UNGP) and established a Human Rights Corporate Statement (Best Buy, 2015) to avoid impact to human rights.
