Avid golfers know all too well the elusive nature of the golf club’s sweet spot. It is a mystery they spend hours trying to solve on the links, usually to no avail. What sets apart amateurs from the professionals is the ability to consistently strike the highly critical pinpoint portion of the club. It is easy to see the difference between the consistency of an amateur and a professional with the definition of the wear spots on the pro’s golf club located where the sweet spot should be (see figure 1 below). Although many complex factors influence the path of a golf ball, the sweet spot has proven essential to maximize the final distance. The sweet spot is all powerful because of its ability to compress the golf ball. The transfer of energy that occurs through the perfect strike produces the largest velocity of the ball and therefore the greatest distance. The reason that mastery of hitting the hot spot of the clubface is close to unmanageable for the average amateur golfer is simply because of all the factors at play. Focusing on the most important part of the golf swing, impact with the ball, narrows the whole motion down into a split second of action. For golfers, the swing has little to do with success on the course, it is how efficient players are at the moment of striking the golf ball. In other words, it all comes down to that moment of impact. This allows people with a variety of body types and ages to excel at the sport throughout their life. I started taking the game more seriously when I joined the Morse High School golf team. When I got to the first practice I was expecting a lot of great golfers to be there, and kids that have played the course forever. But to my surprise, the golfers were really only as good as I was. I actually ended up being number one on the team for all four years old high school. This is where I started taking the game to serious. Playing number one of the team can be scary; number one plays all the other number ones from other schools and some of the kids I played against were very good at the game. It was so nerve-racking having to tee of the first hole while both teams watched me, some of the time you can feel your legs shaking before you hit the ball. This made me try really hard and took some of the fun out of the game. I found myself getting angry at the game or at myself after a match or just when I played bad (which was quite a

Contrary to what most think, an “Arnold Palmer” is not just a blend of tea and lemonade. One day, all might be able to swing a golf club like Arnold Palmer. Golf has been around since the thirteenth century and was introduced by the Scottish and Dutch. The main goal of golf is to reach the hole in the fewest amount of shots possible. One main difference between golf and many other sports is the lower the score the better. Regardless of the fact that the game was once banned, golf is now enjoyed by many (“The History of Golf”). Despite the images in common golf commercials, the golf swing is endlessly complicated.
It is easy to conclude that the equipment differs in golf and frisbee golf. When golfing you use fifteen clubs and a ball, the clubs allow you to hit shots at different lengths. The ball you use consists of hard plastic that varies in the way they grip the green and the way they fly through the air. You hit the ball at a hole with a three-inch diameter by hitting the ball with the club. When playing frisbee golf you use frisbees made from a hard plastic for durability. When picking out your frisbee you must take a lot of other things into consideration such as: color, weight, design and flight pattern. You also may find it necessary to obtain two frisbees one being a driver and the other being a putter. The driver is for maximum distance but not accuracy and the putter is for the opposite. You throw these frisbees at hanging chains with a cup underneath. I think beginners should play where they get the frisbee to hit any part of the chains or the pole in the air. So if you throw it and nick the chains its as good as putting it in the cup, making it easier so you don’t get so discouraged. This also helps them experiment with how the frisbee flies and how to get it to fly other ways. To recap golf uses two types of equipment and frisbee golf uses just one, also in golf the club propels the ball as opposed to frisbee golf where your arm throws the frisbee.

Up until this point, all the golf balls that were created had been made with a smooth, rounded surface. But the Gutta Perch balls had a strange phenomenon occur when they began to wear down and get chips and defects on the surface. They actually became more accurate and flew in a straighter line at this point. This is due to the aerodynamics on the ball, which is comprised of two elements, lift and drag. Lift pushes golf balls upwards in the air, whereas drag creates a force against the direction the ball travels. Small depressions on the ball 's surface, such as chips/ defects on a Gutta Perch and the dimples on modern balls you see today, create a layer of smooth flowing air turbulence around the ball that decreases drag. These indentations also help create a backspin on the ball, which positively affects the
