Honoring America's Influential Figures: Their Fight for Liberty

Imagine this country without any major figures, what would it be like today? If no one would have spoken up for what they believed in, would America still be America? Their impact on America was so great that in order to honor and remember them we have imprinted some of their faces on money and even have their faces sculptured on mountains such as Mount Rushmore. Even though, some may not be as “big” as others, they still played a part in building America. Keep in mind some of these great people suffered serious consequences to fight for what they believe in.

Benjamin Franklin, born in January 17, 1706, was one of the founding fathers of the United States; he was a man that only meant well for his country. He once said “they who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety” (Franklin, 1760). That quote is well respected and brings a deep meaning behind it. Benjamin Franklin rather put up a fight and do what he needed to do in order to achieve permanent freedom instead of being a coward and staying off the radar in order to feel safe for the time being. Some people may say he was the most accomplished man that has walked this earth, and some may say he is all about the greater of good; one thing’s for sure, he never lacked creativity and never doubted the opportunity to learn and gain more knowledge. Because of his personality trait, he was able to be successful in almost everything he attempted. So who was Benjamin Franklin?
