By literal definition of the term, study abroad does indeed imply that one has learned something while physically separated from their home country. Nevertheless, study abroad, as an academic endeavor complimenting an undergraduate or graduate degree program is a different concept altogether. Through the course of time, study abroad has meant a great many things to a great many people. In fact, the actual meaning of study abroad continues to transform as events in the world unfold.
