Benchmark - Ethical Dilemmas Ethical dilemmas can be found in most situations in life, and the severity of the consequence can range from minor to major depending on how bad the ethical dilemma is. Some ethical issues can be easier to spot than others. Depending on how you have been influenced in life, will determine how you were shaped to deal with the issue at hand. In this essay, a euthanasia dilemma will be analyzed from a Christian worldview and compared to an Atheist view of how things should be handled. Ethical Dilemma This ethical dilemma includes a 17-year-old female, Joni, that was left quadriplegic after she dove into a very swallow body of water in Chesapeake Bay. Following the accident, Joni fell into extreme depression. Her depression got so bad, she got to the point of wanting to end her own life. She believes that she is not going to be able to accomplish anything, and just be a burden for her family for the rest of her life if she doesn’t have her life legally terminated. The dilemma is that if Joni is euthanized, she will be out of pain and misery, and not be another person for her family to take care of, but doing so would mean that she would have to have her life terminated by medical professionals. In God’s time, all His children will be free of pain, sorrow, and crying. Joni will have to make the decision if she wants medical help to go against God’s timing, and die before she is intended to.
