Why are the two texts relevant to me and my sense of belonging? Our sense of belonging-not just a feeling? Our sense of belonging is in most cases a big part of who we are and our values, including myself. Granted that, in which ways and why are the texts mentioned relevant to me and my sense of belonging? I am writing this letter to express my concerns about the lack of awareness of the several positive sides regarding sports. Considering that sports in countless ways can contribute to causing a sense of belonging, identity, unity I think it should be more commonly known. Granted that, how and why can sports create a sense of belonging and identity? To begin with, I would say that being a part of a team is a great way to create a sense of belonging and identity. This is because that by being a part of a team you are constantly working with others for something greater than yourself and you will always have a common desire of what the team wants to accomplish. In addition to this will you most likely in every team always be supported and they will also always be there for you either if you win or lose. Therefore, can being a part of a team make you feel like you belong and it can even eventually be a part of who you are and with that your identity. Another great opportunity in sports is that you in most cases don’t even have to play to be a part of the team, but how can this create a sense of belonging and identity? In the same way as you make friends at school, can you in sports also make a great number of new friends which can make you feel like you belong somewhere and help discovering who you are. The most ordinary problem when trying to make friends is a lack of things in common, but in sports you and every other person you meet have one thing in common: sports. In that way it will be much easier to make friends, which naturally is extremely positive. In addition to that does many people in the text “The beautiful game” claim that they have from sports found nice friends and that the friendship between several different football supporters are closer to being family then just a friendship.
