One group of architects hired me for a few sessions of life modelling. They were a friendly bunch. One evening it was frosty; My body has an odd thermostat it did not require heat; one of the artists resorted to wrapping a scarf around himself then his coat. It normally is the other way around. The students were left to set up a stage to place me in. When I arrived it looked like a scene from a murder mystery there were, dummies; traffic cones everything to do with a crime even down to the site being taped off with Do Not Enter on it. What did the students draw? Me lying on the mattress! Working in a function room upstairs in a pub it had a functional bar; in the bar was the only glass washing machine in the pub. The brief for the students was; in the lunch time create a setting for the model to pose in. Returning after lunch the set was a crime scene, window dummies laying on the floor, lots of chaos around the mattress I was to lay on. Tied all around the crime scene blue police tape with “police do not enter” emblazoned on it. The students settled me into the pose; you can imagine the pose. The pose lasted an hour, intrigued to see the pictures as the setting was very different. The pictures were very good most of the students ignored the wonderful setting they had created. A group I work for asked (via e mail) if I could work the next day. I replied to the e mail as soon as I opened it saying I could work the following day. As my message was not answered I decided to go to the venue. Gingerly looking into the room, checking to see if another model was in there. The artist who runs the group spotted me and apologise profusely as another model was booked. It was not a problem I just needed to be sure the group had a life model. As for my day; I went to a local seaside town as I had promised myself to go there one day. As for odd e mails my latest one was if I could give a definition between life modelling and pornography! The two disciplines are poles apart. Life modelling is painful, chilly, great fun and great for “me” time. Pornography as I understand is photographs that depict women in a manner that is to me derogatory. I know there is a life art group that do racier life sessions. For me that is not an area of life modelling I am not interested
