There are more and more jobs that require inside work now than ever; I do not want to do much work inside, if any. Since I was very young I never wanted to get a job that required me to be inside or sit at a desk all day. Working outside is the perfect thing for me. Even if I don’t become a lineman; I am going to work outside. Becoming a lineman is the perfect job for me I believe. Many people nowadays are beginning to realize that becoming a lineman may be a very good trade to get into. I know many people who aspire to be linemen. The people I know that want to become a lineman are one of the main influences in making my decision to become a lineman. My older brother is currently a student on the Clarion Venango campus. The most major downside is that if you get injured, you can not work outside. There would probably be some inside office work to do until you heal; but the outside work is the most desirable to me. Even if I was injured; I could use the break from outside work for a little while. Also this line of work can be physically straining to anyone who has not prepared for the type of work. I do not think the physical strain will affect me much at all. Another con is that once college and lineman school is finished, an apprenticeship is recommended. The duration of apprenticeships can be up to five years. Also, apprenticeships do not offer as much as regular lineman jobs do. Although a job directly out of high school is a very good opportunity to be ahead of the game. Although apprenticeships may be lower paying, it is better than going to college for four years and spending even more money. The nature of the work can also be very dangerous. Working on big telephone poles can be a threat to someone's well being for anyone who is not comfortable with heights. I am very comfortable at heights; which is one thing that helps me prepare for this job. Also electricity is very dangerous and can be life threatening. Although lineman school and college help prepare for things like electricity and heights ("TRAINING." WESTERN PENNSYLVANIA
