Becoming Environmentally Friendly What I think of Walmart green initiatives is actually quite simple: the initiatives are working and they are working well. Essentially, the corporation is making a difference inside and outside the business world. When you take Walmart’s history and that of its competitors into consideration, it is very refreshing to see a company of such prominence take a real stand on environmental issues rather than conduct one environmentally friendly initiative and never give another thought to it again. That is the reality of most established corporations today. Many companies try to disguise their small attention-driven efforts as genuine social responsibility, a business’s intention, beyond its legal and economic obligations, to do the right things and act in ways that are good for Of course, it is nowhere near the top of the list as far as the most environmentally friendly companies are concerned. Nonetheless, its executive leadership and their socioeconomic view, the view that management’s social responsibility goes beyond making profits to include protecting and improving society’s welfare, are still making a great impact. They are impacting the environment, they are impacting their suppliers and the way they operate, and they are impacting the industry by serving as an excellent example to their competition on how to transition to a more environmentally intelligent business and production model while remaining profitable. So in my eyes, there is no question of whether or not Walmart has achieved an environmentally friendly reputation.
