I watched the new HBO miniseries called: The Night Of. I chose to view this miniseries because it had a very interesting plot. One comparison between the court official I interviewed, this miniseries, and the textbook is that the court reporter handles real life court cases every day. The textbook is written off of real life events as well. The HBO miniseries is fictional even though it all looks very real. I interviewed Beckee Partin with the County Courts. What Beckee likes most about her career is that every day is different which keeps her job very interesting. She has been a court reporter since 1996. In 20 years she has seen a lot of cases go through the court room. Trials start every Monday, Wednesday and can last 5 days each. If

As the movie progresses, the viewer realizes that Nick was pretended to get avoid jury duty in order to secure a spot in the jury. The movie ends with the jury voting against the gun company and then Nick and “Marlee” blackmailing Fitch with a receipt for $15 million and they demand that he retire immediately. They inform him that the $15 million will benefit the shooting victims in the town of Gardner.

    While the did lectures we had so far in class have been very informative by applying both objective facts while sometimes implementing unusual yet interactive methods in order to provide perspective on certain scenarios in criminal justice history. It just doesn’t really compare to what the book gives which are provide real-world criminal justices cases that many people would usually go through sometimes on a day to day basis. Compared to what was taught so far from the lectures which were objective facts and cooking lessons, one of the criticisms of the book (which the authors made a note of to point out) is that the stories can be filled with loose recollections and possibly exaggerated accounts of what really happen which is natural of course as most people tend to remember mainly the parts that were the most significant to them and tend to forget just about everything else.

Judge Montgomery started court promptly at 9:00 a.m. After going through the metal detectors, I asked the officer working the metal dictator if I could ask to sit in on a criminal court that was going on that morning. He then directed me to the printed docket on the table in the waiting area. The docket is the official schedule of proceedings in lawsuits pending in a court of law. I walked into the administration office and asked if I could get a copy of the docket for when I sit in on court that day for my Legal Process class. I waited until the bailiff called everyone in, and I went in as well and took a seat in the front row in the middle next to another classmate.
