It looks like Henry Cavill’s Kal-El simply cannot get a break despite his dramatic death in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Incredible Hulk comic book writer Peter David has just weighed in on Cavill’s portrayal of the Kryptonian, stating that it was difficult to relate to someone who “acts like a god!”
David shared his review on Batman v Superman on his website, where he dissected Cavill’s performance in the film.
“Ninety percent of the time that Cavill is on screen, he’s in Superman mode, even when he’s Clark,” David wrote, adding that the Man of Steel’s superiority over mankind is shown throughout the film.
“As Superman he never cracks a smile, never cracks a joke, never cracks his façade,” he wrote, pointing out one particular scene. …show more content…

He doesn’t try to find out if anyone survived, he doesn’t do anything. He just stands there, like God observing just how idiotic mortals can be,” David wrote, later adding that the superhero only chose to help when he felt like it.
“Cavill’s Superman is treated like a god and acts like a god, helping where and when he sees fit, but largely outside of humanity, as if life is some great party to which he is not invited,” David wrote, adding that the Kal-El in BvS doesn’t seem to comprehend humans.
“He doesn’t get us, he doesn’t understand us, he doesn’t see where his place in humanity is supposed to be,” he continued before asking how the viewer would relate to someone who acts alienated.
“How am I supposed to care about someone who is so detached from the race among which he was raised?” David
