Pulling off of Route 5 near Westfield, there’s a steep hill that overlooks a magnificent sight. A sight that fills all souls with serenity, curiosity, and amazement. Barcelona Harbor is known for its pier, smooth parking area, clean restroom facilities, accessible boat launch, and the breathtaking beach fronts. The harbor contains over a mile long stretch of hot, soft sand in addition to spectacular vantage points of Lake Erie. People from all over come to visit Barcelona Light, a historical lighthouse landmark, or bird watch, but locals come to Barcelona Beach to breathe in the fresh air. No matter the weather, there is always someone at the beach taking in the glorious sites, walking along to the beat of the waves. Barcelona Beach is the perfect place to wash away all personal problems with the incoming waves. The harbor is a little slice of heaven, the natural landscape as well as the scents are always changing, and the water is consistently dancing to disconnect it’s visitors from the rest of the world. Barcelona beach is one of the best beaches around Lake Erie, purely because the beach is more of an intimate, and secluded location. There are three very large, and hard to miss signs that states, no swimming is allowed due to the of the lack of life guards. Despite the signs, people still partake in water activities, like swimming. Cute families and large groups of rowdy friends do visit Barcelona Harbor, but these groups of people never stay for long. Large groups stay until their skin is pruned from swimming in the blue water, and their skin starts to burn from the sun’s rays.
