Risks Are Vital to Reach Your Dreams A very difficult thing that everyone will be faced with in life is risk taking. Think about the more successful people you hear about in the news - that singer that dropped out of school to pursue music, or that billionaire that had to invest their money to get where they are today. None of them would be there without risking something. Ricks are very important to take in order to reach your dreams or accomplish something. This theme is portrayed through both the poem “RISKS” by Janet Rand and the chapter “A Boy and a Man” in the book “Banner in the Sky” by James Ramsey Ullman . The poem gives everyday examples of people taking risks. In the story, we hear about two people who risk their lives for accomplishing their goal. These are some of the things that “RISKS” lists about risks that people take every day. This clearly shows that taking risks is a huge part of life and cannot be avoided. This poem also shows that without taking these risks, you may never fulfill your dreams and you will be left with nothing. An example of this is “But risks must be taken, because the greatest risk in life is to risk nothing/ The person who risks nothing, does nothing, has nothing, is nothing, and becomes nothing,” in lines (10-11). Although certain risks can lead to terrible things like embarrassment and failure, they can also lead to wonderful things like success, which cannot happen without reaching for it.
