Banksy Protest on the Art Community

The renowned street artist Banksy has gained a large following in the art community he himself, is an important part of. The art community gave Banksy initial ridicule and now he has been granted praise. However, Banky’s art often protests the current culture in the art community, which circles around spending large amounts of money to buy art from people who have extensive training from pricey schools. Banksy, a special case, was able to rise among top street artists like Shepard Fairey with no real training or education in art. The art community is depriving the rest of the world of ideas that could change the way everyone thinks or acts solely because an artist isn’t qualified to show their art anywhere it will be recognized. Banky’s dismay for the art world is recognized through his art and he is urging a change in the art community to be more receptive towards young artists.
First, according to Will Ellsworth-Jones, Banksy is a British man from Bristol which is where he learned stencil art as opposed to spray which allows him to construct much more intricate paintings much quicker. Once Banksy began to stencil, his popularity began to climb. Many of Banksy’s first highly recognized pieces he managed to sneak onto museum walls. Banksy managed to install his own rendition of the Mona Lisa in the Louvre. The woman had a smiley face plastered over her own. The Mona Lisa is the most iconic, well known piece of artwork and Banksy defiled it in its own home. Banksy sauntered into the Louvre concealing a painting, which he proceeded to situate onto a wall. Any artist could employ the notoriety the signature Banksy presently carries to capture viewings of their art without museums or art shows. The fact that there is a possibility graffiti could be a Banksy would ensue the flock of people in hordes to adorn the possible Banksy. The work’s authenticity would be difficult to question if it is of Banksy’s quality work, assuming the real Banksy doesn’t make a statement regarding that piece’s creation. I don’t see why this would happen if the work is on par with Banksy’s, as he is protesting for the unknown artist, unless Banksy desired to give credit where it is deserved, therefore that artist receive a positive review by Banksy giving him an “in” into the art community and opportunity for further success.
