Choice and Reasons for Topic

My choice is the influence of aviation on Singaporean Students, namely those in Secondary Schools, Polytechnics and Junior Colleges, and the impact on them. My project would look at the positive and negative social impacts on students who are flying and those who plan on doing so .

Supporting the relevance of my choice of topic is (Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong, 2011) who says that we must “…ignite new passion for aviation among our youth and develop them.” Furthermore, the existence of the Singapore Youth Flying Club , where Singaporean youths are receiving government sponsored flying trainings showing that government is already pushing aviation to the youths.

However, based on a pilot survey that I have done with my class , Figure 1, out of 16 people, only 2 people were aware that such an opportunity exists. This means that the methods used to push aviation are not effective enough.

Those who have obtained flying training but are unable to obtain their license or enter the Air Force would have developed in themselves many life-skills such as
 Ability to multi task even with a lot of information being presented
1. Able to receive and evaluate a lot of information which are being presented such as the engine condition and plane’s speed.
2. This shows how the pilots would know how to evaluate what kind of data is important to them or not as well as think quickly think through the correct suitable to fix any problem.

The ability to multi task, evaluate and act accordingly are considered as valuable skills of a future employee (Susan Adams, Forbes Staff, 2013), with reference to ...
