Like nearly every other professional today, automotive technicians need to be comfortable with computer-based equipment. Cars are more computerized than ever before. It takes more than just mechanical know-how and the turning of a wrench to become a certified automotive technician. Experienced technicians can work anywhere in the country along with the right mindset and attitude.
Irrefutably the more educated you are, the better your opportunities are to find employment. You will also learn that most of what you need to know will be from doing hands on work, like working in the shop, or watching others do it hands on. As with everything, it starts with a high school diploma. If you do not have at least a high school diploma, not too many employers will hire you to work and represent their company. The more training you have, the more marketable you will be to the employers (Auto Mechanic). Next step up the ladder would be to attend a community college, technical institute, post-secondary trade schools, or AYES (Automotive Youth Education Systems). The AYES program is a new approach to hiring and training automotive technicians. It is a partnership of highs schools and colleges with dealers all around the country to fulfill the many open service positions by preparing students for entry level positions at dealerships. (Gater) One of the major benefits of this program is you get real life work experience by listening to customers and working on their cars, with a mentor by your side, and you get to have an 8 week paid summer.
The next step in the education process is to get your certificates and get certified. This is the number one part that sets one person aside from another. There...

... or rotors. so the tech should tell her to take it to hare shop so he can take a look at it, after that he gets the car in the air on a lift and pops the front wheels off, the first thing he notices is the rotor has a lot of grooves in it, this is not a bad thing, it just shows some wear. The next thing he will do is check the pad wear, after he finds out it just need new pads and the rotors turned on a lathe, he will then explain to the customer the process and how long it will take. Then he will need to choose the proper tools to achieve this job. After he is done he will then need to fill out and write a service paper, anybody out there that works on anybody but their own car should always fill out a service form, this will ensure a good paper trail and will be handy if someone wants to try to file a lawsuit against you or doesn’t want to pay their bills on time.
Doing something you’re good at, and learning the different skills that will help you better yourself in the job are more important that what you could learn in a school. College isn’t for everyone, but you can learn just as much without it. Nothing beats, “The satisfaction of being good at what does for a living” (Murray 237). Education is important, it’s been taught since before Kindergarten that a good education will open more doors. And that’s true, however there are also a number of things that you learn through hard work that can’t be taught, instead “work smart...make every move count” (Rose
In the United States, the history of Career and Technical Education evolved within four major periods. First, the Awakening period which began in 1776-1826, when the right to a free public education was expressed. During this era, educational opportunities in labor and industrial education were being demanded. The rising working class began to press for an education that were more appropriate for their labor and industry’s needs (Awakening 1776-1826, 1976). Even Benjamin Franklin who represented the Awakening middle class was on board with the rise of technical and vocational education which were taught primarily by private masters or contracted apprenticeships (Cohen, 1976).
If you want to make 18 dollars a hour then you can go right out of high school with a diploma or something that is just the same as one. But if you want to make some good money than you need to go to a technical school and get a degree there because than you will be able to make some good money. If you go to technical school then you will have the opportunity to get hands on work done. Which will range from 18 wheelers to your diesel cars that they are making today, so you will get better at diesel mechanics and get paid more by going to a school after high school. The schooling you will take for diesel mechanics is about 19 months or 73 weeks, but you can find some courses that will be a little shorter. After your schooling you will have to be ASE certified which means Automotive Service Excellence. If you can take these test, which normally your company will pay for( if you pass), you will be able to do more things which will lead to you being able to make more money and get a higher position like management or a higher
With economic costs increasing, many businesses are now requiring individuals to have a higher level of education and at least a few years of experience to receive fair employment. Since living expenses are increasing rapidly each year, minimum wage jobs are not making ends meet anymore. More and more people are thinking about enrolling in secondary and tertiary educational institutions just to make a comfortable living for themselves as well as their families. Now that several individuals are planning to enroll, they now have to select where to begin their continuous scholastic journey. Most of the individuals that are now enrolling in secondary and tertiary educational institutions has either recently graduated high school or has been out of school for years and need courses to be qualified for their jobs. The two most common options are community colleges and universities. Although they both have their benefits and shortcomings, they both offer the same diversities of knowledge. When deciding where is best to continue with a smooth transition, each individual should know that a community college and a university differ in
Credentialing has replaced education, in a way that negatively impacts society, due to the effect it has on the purpose of learning in relation to job status and overall authenticity of a person. Education and credentialing have very different meanings, although they both rely on each other to provide purpose. An education is the accumulation of information, resulting in an overall knowledge of a certain topic, where critical analysis and thought have taken place. Hence, material has not been purely memorized to pass a test, but actually absorbed into the person through a clear process of understanding. However, credentialing is a process that requires education, but the effort to acquire it is minimalized, as it is more viewed as a phase to

Ever since 1917, Auto Mechanics have been a major priority to most people through transportation. This career field is very important to human civilization because people must have some kind of transportation every day for work, food, and just everyday needs (Weintraub page# 9). Schools should provide the opportunity for students to complete an automotive repair program, because students who complete these programs most likely will be given a chance to start at an entry-level position as a technician. Another advantage with these programs is that by completing recognized mechanics programs throughout high school, it allows students to convert it to a year of on the job experience. It is essential for high schools to include a mechanics program as it would impair them otherwise because technology is continuing to advance. Without any experience, a student will not be informed on how things have changed and will just be one step behind if trying to start a career in this field (Nature of the Work). Eddie Tilley, a two year graduate in mechanics from Forsyth Tech, said, “I think [with] the way technology is going, everything will keep improving, and it will make it more challenging to work on vehicles unless you have a lot of computer technology to diagnose what the problem is” (Tilley). This is why high schools should include a mechanics program that works with local mechanics to train students for

You may achieve a certificate from the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE). To receive your ASE certificate, you must pass a written test. Training programs are offered through vocational schools, private trade schools, two year colleges, internship, or on-the-job training. You can get a two year on-the-job training certificate (AutomotivePainter. www.career cruising.com).
There are times when you find yourself in a fix, with the car suddenly dying on you, while on the way to work. To your dismay, you realized that it’s out of warranty, but you still need to have it fixed immediately, as it is your only means of transport. You did the next best thing, and have it towed towards the nearest repair shop to get an estimate of repair. The mechanic calls later, to give you a litany of parts that needs to be replaced and repaired. The list seemed endless, and you get shock by the amount involved that you have to shell out. You then wonder if the mechanic is just trying to swipe a few bucks from you, since you don’t understand anything about cars.
Education is an infinite learning process that plays a vital role in modern society. Even now, without a higher education one cannot even get a simple occupation such as a sales clerk, carpenter, or custodian. From writing checks, filing taxes, driving a car, to budgeting groceries, all involve the pre- knowledge and basics of reading, writing, and calculating. Higher education is very important to the success of a person’s career goal. To avail all benefits and acquire a proficient education, one has to take the learning process as a solemn one.
When you want to advance in your field you must be able to obtain certifications in many different programs. When you have a certification it says something about what you know as an engineer, “Certifications provide status to those who have proven their knowledge and give employers a benchmark standard for measuring employee candidates” (Ricci, 2012). Before you apply for a mechanical engineering job you should get a bachelor but now in the workplace you will need a master’s degree to have a chance of moving up in the workplace. Bureau of Labor Statistics (2015) says, “Some colleges and universities offer 5-year programs that allow students to obtain both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree”. Having this choice will allow you to save money on college and then be able to have time for internships and possible a job while you complete your
