Since this is an autobiography, let me start from the beginning. When I was born in 1995 to a middle class family, I recall living in Chicago for a while until my family moved to Orland Park where we still currently reside. As for some background information about my parents, my parents were both born in Poland and moved to Chicago, and once my sister and I were born, they decided to remain in the United States so that my sister and I can grow up here. My family basically consists of myself, my sister, and my parents. I recall my childhood being amazing and filled with many toys and activities that sparked my interest. I strongly believe that I began to develop a love for learning at this age. As a student during this time, I went to school and then, on Fridays in the afternoon, I also went to Polish school from 5 to 8:45 and continued to learn Polish. I learned Polish at the beginning since I was enrolled in a Polish kindergarten program and was learning the language that my parents spoke often at home. Once I moved to the suburbs and entered 1st grade, I began learning the English language while also learning Polish. During my elementary years, I first traveled to Poland with my family in 5th grade, and I realize how lucky I am to be able to travel and visit my mother’s side of the family. My family and I typically visit Poland once every three years, and we are actually planning a trip this summer. I remember that in 4th grade, I began to think about becoming a teacher and even wrote down in a memoir that I wanted to teach when I got older. I was apart of a teaching internship, and through that experience, I learned how much I truly love to be in a classroom. I also knew at this level that I wanted to attend ISU for education due to hearing good things about the educational program and my teachers knowing how much I wanted to teach. During this time, my favorite objects were things that correlated to teaching, and these are still my favorite things such as pens, school supplies, a teacher charm that my mother bought for me, and any other items correlated to my dream career such as books like the “Chicken Soup for the Soul: Teacher’s edition”. At this time, I met a high school teacher who inspired me to become a teacher because she had such a passion for mathematics and was one of the kindest teachers I ever met. She was also small in size, and since I struggled with my height at this age, I looked up to her and realized that teaching can be possible despite my size. I learned from her that obstacles cannot get in the way of achieving a dream, and I also defined my meaning of success which would be giving one hundred percent effort on a daily basis and, in return, hopefully making a difference in someone’s life. My passion intensified and continues to intensify at ISU which was also my dream school. Although teaching may not be a part of my culture per se, I identify with is because
