Recommended: Should professional athletes have high salaries

Have you ever thought that an athlete’s job was too easy? Have you ever thought that athletes get too much money for what they do? I personally think that athletes should be paid less. The reason why I believe this is because athletes make more income than the average person. I think the money that athletes do earn could go toward a better cause, like helping those less fortunate. They play for a living so they shouldn’t be paid more than someone who works a difficult job. Athletes make more money than people with important jobs. Athletes, even though they have a pretty easy job, should not be more than the head of our country. In 2011, the average Chicago Bears player made around $2 million, whereas the average american made around $43,000. The highest type of doctor has a yearly income of $500,000. A GS-13 level astronaut (the highest level in NASA) makes about $107,000 a year. An above average car salesman makes around $70,000 per year. …show more content…

Professional sports aren’t needed for society to function, the money that they do earn could/ should go to help the homeless or go to a charity, I know some donate to charities but not all do. The money could even go to our government, and they play for a living which isn’t really much of a job and get paid millions. Most of the money that athletes earn is from ticket sales and concessions, which people could buy actual food and put the money to good use. Some sports players are really cocky and they show off their money, which wouldn’t be a problem if they didn’t get that

Within recent years the question of weather NCAA athletes should be paid or not has arisen and caused them some unwanted attention. He was convicted of beating his girlfriend almost to death. A 20-year-old basketball star doesn’t need to feel that he is a king to be a leader. What kind of role model is he setting to other youngsters that want to follow in the same footsteps?
