Athazagoraphobia is being forgotten it goes along with this quote since others fear being forgotten the next day. As were thanatophobia is the fear of death or dying you might not love today and you might fear the next day. These two fears are alike and different in many ways. For an example, they both have different symptoms, or similarities like can take medicine to cure this fear. These fears don’t have many common symptoms, when it comes to diagnosing these fears. This fear of the unknown is similar to the one shown in Gordon Grice’s essay, “The Black Widow.” In his essay, Grice explains how his fear of black widow made him curious about them. He once feared black widows because most people associated black widows as deadly animals that kill people. Fear of the unknown, and fear of what is to come in our lives, has generations of people wondering what will our lives be like tomorrow or the next day. Death is always there and we cannot escape it. Death is a scary thing. Our own mortality or the mortality of our loved ones scares us to the point that we sometimes cannot control how we are dealing with such a thing as the thought of death. In this world, there are many psychological problems and issues that people are dealing with. One of the main issues that they deal with is their fears. In this case, severe fears which are called phobias. There are over five hundred (500) types of phobias with a specific name, classification and description of that phobia. Phobias can become very extreme and hard to deal with if not treated after a certain amount of time. From understanding what a phobia is, the history, statistical facts, signs/symptoms and different types of treatment one can learn and understand that phobias are a serious matter and can be treated for. As long as a person understands what phobia they have, commit to finding a treatment and have a strong enough mind, they can see that they can do anything and be rid of their fears because you are only as strong as your weakest fear.

I always feel that more people are afraid of how they are going to die more than death itself. My mom always says that she doesn’t fear death because she believes it to be a peaceful thing. She works in a nursing home and has experienced many deaths. I believe that people who are old or are very ill, that when they die they are being put to rest from all their pain and suffering. The unknown is something human can’t wrap their heads around so like mystery humans try to figure it out, to discover it so that mankind may not be fearful of death. In doctor Macknees’ paper “Is there Life after Birth?” he examines the fears of death and how it’s related to humans fear of living. The three topics being fear of what happens after death, fears related to the process of dying, and fears of the loss of life. Each topic has 3 subtopics that go deeper into the thoughts that many may have as death approaches them or fears for the future. The three that connected the most to me would be under the topic of fears related to loss of life, subtopics fear of mastery, fear of incompleteness or failure, and fear of separation. The author of this book describes and quotes many other psychological thinkers views on the different kinds of fear and what contributes to the fear of death in man. The author explores several topics like self-worth, heroism, fear, anxiety, depression and many other issues throughout this book.
This paper is focused on how fear as a subject is being perceived by many as a dominant and primitive human emotion. An uncontrollable energy that’s exists and created within every individual, which is directed towards an object or a given situation that does not present an actual danger. The individual then analyzes that the fear is contradictory and thus cannot help the reaction. Gradually, the phobia aims to build up and aggravate as the fear of fear response takes hold. Eventually they distinguish their fear responses as negative, and go out of their way to avoid those reactions. ‘Fear is derived as a basic feeling and therefore created by us – it is not something we have, but something we do. The principle of fear is to keep us safe.’
Death will always be universal and is continuously seen or heard of everyday. The fear and death its self affects everyone, but it’s important to feel accustomed and comfortable about it.
