Did you agree with your results? Why or why not? I do agree with my results. It portrays an accurate representation of where I see myself. I have an overall rating of 59/100. As a grad student, a single mother, living with my parents, working at a job that makes me happy but that isn’t directly working towards my future goals, I can understand why my status for this assessment would be “struggling”. My highest score was seven in the social category, six in the career, community, and physical category, and three in the financial category. This was no surprise to me, yet it was good to have these areas examined and written down on paper. From a personal perspective it is a confirmation of where I am in the five areas of well-being and also point out areas that I need to work on. I also really appreciate the book and the information they give about each section and each chapter. The actual assessment was short and easy to understand. I do think that the assessment is based on the individual’s personal perspective of themselves and someone who is more content in their current situation would score higher on this assessment even if in lesser circumstances. The tools associated with Wellbeing can be helpful if utilized correctly. On their website they have a place where you can log in and come back and look at your numbers and they also have daily and longer-term assessments to track daily and long-term goals associated with the five categories. I think that the daily tracker is beneficial in it aids the individual in being conscious of their goals and commits them to strive for improvement in the areas they need to improve on. “Wellbeing is about the combination of our love for what we do each day, the quality of our relationships, the security of our finances, the vibrancy of our physical health, and the pride we take in what we have contributed to our communities” (Rath, p. …show more content…

When an individual comes in for career counseling, chances are that there are other areas in their life that may also be struggling. This easy to read book has a wealth of research and background information to help a client understand the importance of overall wellbeing as well as an easy way to assess oneself. I don’t believe this text would be necessary for every individual. Wellbeing would be great for individuals who are seeking improvement in their life in more areas than just their career. If a client had a great community, physical, financial, and social life I don’t think I would bog them down with this overall assessment, instead I would choose assessments that have more of a vocational/personality focus. However, I do believe that clients who only need improvement in the career area would be a smaller number than those seeking help in other
