In the movie Castaway the main character, Chuck, is in love with this girl named Kelly. Sadly he’s never around because he’s always working. He is an operations executive for FedEx and he flies all over the world. His plane departed on Christmas night and didn’t return for five years. His plane experiences technical difficulties and goes down in the south pacific. He lay on a raft for the whole night as the terrible storm blew him 500 miles south, to a deserted island. On the island he tried to keep his physical health alive along with his mental health. After eliminating Maslow's Hierarchy of needs I was able to identify exactly what he was missing in his life. I knew witch needs were being abandoned and where he had to make compromises to make up for the gaps.

Chuck worked his butt off to get to be that successful. Before he left his self actuation need was complete. Chuck tried to be the best boyfriend and employee. When Chuck wasn’t working he was surprising Kelly at work. Once he crashes, he still tried to be the best he can be. He works through his problems and find solutions. Chuck found one of the plot's body in the water and pulls him to shore. Chuck then buries his body and has his own funeral him. Chuck could have just left the man's body in the water Chuck respects himself and the pilot too much, so he buries him.
The need for safety is an important need. It’s the need for shelter and having the feeling that you are okay all the time. When chuck's plane crashed, he floated on a raft in the Pacific ocean all night through a terrifying thunderstorm. When he floated to the island he used the raft as a bed and as a roof. Almost every night there were tropical storms keeping him up all night. He was then able to meet those needs by finding a cave to sleep in and store his belongings to keep them out of the
