When I think or even hear the name Cinderella automatically I think of Walt Disney’s version the one I grew up watching as a child. The Disney version was less complex and showed children the meaning of everlasting happiness. All this time I thought Disney’s version was the first and only version. That thought was ruled out. The movie came from the German version tale, Aschenputtel; written by the Brothers Grimm in the early 1800’s. Although the movie came from this tall tale, Disney decided to switch up a few things and make it more kid friendly. The Disney version of Cinderella everyone can say they remembered the fairy godmother. In the German Version of Cinderella, Aschenputtel, there is no Fairy godmother. Both versions have the same meaning and concept but it’s a lot of minor and major differences with full of twist and turns.
In Aschenputtel mother tells her “Dear child, remain pious and good, and then our dear God will always protect you, and I will look down on you from heaven and be near you."(182) Abiding by her mother’s request she did just that. The last night of the ball she is given golden slippers unlike in the Disney version where she is given crystal glass slippers. Asheputtel, each night before Cinderella escaped the ball before the prince discovered who she was, but this time he has set a trap. Asheputtel still escapes, but loses one of the gold
